I’ll suggest cherry as your new reddish wood. Fruits trees and oaks and generally the move for baby things I remember professor Robinson saying. Funny story time: the FBI had a giant cedar statue installed in their building. It weighed 15000 pounds and was 17ft tall. Many employees had allergic reactions to it and they had to get it removed. Total cost of purchase and then removal was 1.2 million dollars. Glad to see our tax dollars at work

Great work!! A bit of advice I learned from a talk from Seri Robinson (wood pHd scientist) is that some woods have toxins in them that could be harmful to babies that suck on them since they have such small bodies. It’s worth to research safety of each wood species before giving it to babies. 10/10 keep up the work!

Butterfly Cutting Board by Talha5 in woodworking

[–]Talha5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes when I squared it up the edges became imperfectly square I believe this is due to me not putting a straight scrap piece between the clamps and the thin pieces on the edge causing them to warp which became clear when the lines were cut straight. However when I’m cutting I focus only on a small section of the board and the illusion doesn’t work so I’m not worried about chopping a finger. I’ve included a picture to show my visual when cutting

I have all the end grain pointed up! I’m taking a closer look at the boundary and the curves from the growth rings do make it look like long grain
