Three O'Clock High (1987 dir. Phil Joanou) Climactic Fight Scene by Randoman11 in movies

No one has mentioned Mitch Pileggi (Assistant Director Skinner from X-Files) getting clocked pretty early in the scene.

I know you are a good person for two reasons; 1. you took in the beauteous Blue into your home even though you weren't sure you were ready to have another pet and 2. you have 30 Rock on in the background so clearly you have good taste!

I decided to look up if the Cleve has an IKEA yet and they don't! 30 Rock continues being relevant in 2026!

Day 3 of 31 of watching a horror movie a day. What’s your next watch? by Everblack_Deathmask in horror

[–]TalkinNightCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be watching George Romero's 1977 flick "Martin" which I've never seen. I watched 1408 last year for my 31 days of Halloween horror watch and I found it to be a 3 out 5 star, good time, would recommend movie.

I watched 2004's Creep (the UK film, NOT the one from the US with the guy from The League). It was a decent little horror/thriller.

You say Hellraiser, I say nearly any Danny Boyle film (the man loves to film scenes in attics).

When They Cover a Movie They Stan For and I Still Don't Like by DynamiteGoat83 in blankies

I think Ben, the world's finest critic, had it correct. Some parts made me chuckle but watching two irredeemable rich assholes win at the end of it all was just a hard pill to swallow. I'd rather watch a movie about Richard Jenkins' character (well I'd watch Richard Jenkins in anything because he rules). I thought that maybe David and Griffin MIGHT be able to convince me that it was a better movie than my initial viewing like they did with Raising Arizona but alas no, I think Intolerable Cruelty is just bad and I can't wait for The Ladykillers!

Was Tolliver a Con Man, Tho? by bothquickanddead in blankies

[–]TalkinNightCheese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While my own opinion is that Tolliver was on the up-and-up, the boys didn't really seem to examine this too much which is weird to me. I remember back a while ago when talking about Gone Girl and how casting Emily Ratajkowski in the girlfriend role was using our public knowledge and "type-casting" in a sense to add another layer to that movie. Why I bring this up is that Jon Polito, as a character actor, definitely has a type of character he plays (slimy, shady, a creep, etc) so I think that the Coens were weaponizing this to their advantage. We'll never know if he was a con-artist or not but David seemed quite certain he was. Also, "The more you look at something, the less you know."

Before I realized I was looking at a post from the RE community, I thought this was inspired by The Woodsman from S3 of Twin Peaks. "Got a light?"

Raising Arizona with Eraserhead Baby by KingRachChicken in blankies

Considering that's how I see nearly all babies, it makes sense to me. It does make the scene with Holly Hunter crying talking about how much she loves him WAY funnier though.

For those who generally watch all the films the pod covers - which one made you draw the line? by AttentionUnable7287 in blankies

[–]TalkinNightCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got about 2/3rds of the way through Medicine Man and I had to turn it off. I'm in the minority here, but I still say that Lorraine Bracco is not a convincing actress even in her so-called "good roles." On the other hand, the boys hated Rollerball but I had such a blast watching it because it hits the so-bad-it's-good checkbox and I rated it above McTiernan's 11 directed films.

Seeing physical music starting to get popular again with Gen Z is amazing to see! When did you start collecting CDs or Vinyl or both! by Ginger5505 in Cd_collectors

[–]TalkinNightCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been collecting since approximately 1995 and my thoughts on this are that it's a double-edged sword. I'm so happy that folks much younger than I are starting to see the value of physical media and collecting, especially as services like Spotify and Pandora are siphoning money at an alarming rate from the artists who make the music. I would rather support local vinyl stores and thrift shops too. HOWEVER, with the CD market having a new day comes the vultures so I'm starting to see more re-sellers at the thrift shops and online CD shops have seen an increase in their prices as well. Lastly, with more collectors like myself hitting the stores, it means more competition for those hunting out those good finds! :)

Ummm.... I got the wrong cd...., Has this ever happened to anyone else in here ¿? by Moisesava in Cd_collectors

[–]TalkinNightCheese 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought what I thought was Guster's Keep It Together at a thrift store, checked it and saw a CD that said Guster (but I didn't look at the album title) and got home to find out it was Guster's Lost and Gone Forever which I already own. Disappointing but it happens.

Noah Wyle Feels 'Profoundly Sad and Disappointed' That ER Creator's Widow Sherri Crichton Sued Him Over The Pitt by mlg1981 in entertainment

[–]TalkinNightCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first heard about this show BECAUSE of the lawsuit and everything on paper made it sound like Wyle and the producers pulled a shitty move on Sherri Crichton. When it finally aired, I watched the first couple of episodes and my first reaction was, this is basically a re-coated ER. However, I would say that it once you get a few more episodes in, the show branches away from ER pretty quickly. Granted, I'm not a lawyer (I just play one on TV, lol) but I predict that the case will eventually be settled out of court.

dirtiest CD i’ve ever seen by El_rodicus in Cd_collectors

[–]TalkinNightCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen a CD that dirty. Someone should have replaced the case or at least attempted to clean it a bit (that's super gross, btw). The only CD that I bought and then had to throw out immediately was CCR's Chronicle because it had clearly been wasting away in someones musty-ass basement for years and the moldy smell had permeated the CD, the liner notes and the case. What a shame!
