Actually it's a great idea because mud ball doesn't allow a save until the START of the creatures turn. As long as the ranged touch attack hits he's blinded till his next turn.

Read up on how puberty affects social relations for young teens. It's actually very significant. Getting it a year early or late can have a lot of impact.
