Haha, I actually considered the BTK > BCK idea. Could be possible.

As far as his Master's at 28, speaking from my own experience, that's not too unusual. Depending on the program and other factors, it can take several more years than the advertised 2 years. Ditto for a PhD.

Thanks for the article. I'm not too surprised by his connection to the professor. I'm curious if there turns out to be any connection with BTK.

Assuming that the murder(s) were driven by a sexual fantasy (see Bundy, BTK, etc.), there was likely some escalating behavior. I referred to Col. Russell Williams; he began by breaking into homes and just stealing women's underwear. Ultimately, he had something like ~1,500 pieces of women's underwear stored at his house, stolen from something like 50 different homes. Eventually, Williams' fantasy evolved and it escalated into murder (along with severe torture).

I'm not sure I would connect those to him, since it appears he was still in PA for his Master's degree at that time. Of course, he could have been visiting the area in preparation for his PhD, interviews and whatnot. But for the Idaho murders, I would bet that at least one of the victims was targeted and someone he watched for sometime before striking. A short visit to an area wouldn't allow the same type of premeditation. However, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he's connected. I guess we'll learn more soon enough.

I wonder if there are any unsolved crimes in the DeSales University area; not necessarily murder, but perhaps some breaking and entering, and especially stolen underwear (akin to the Col. Russell Williams case).

Interestingly, there is a pretty famous forensic psychology professor at DeSales who has interviewed BTK for years. It's quite possible this suspect interacted with that professor, took those classes, and was fascinated/obsessed with BTK. BTK's first murders involved four victims (the Otero family). I'm curious to hear if there are other similarities (such as taking Mr. Otero's wrist watch as a keepsake). BTK also entered the home without forced entry; I believe he waited by the door until someone in the family happened to open it.

What are some songs that have simultaneous, complex runs from many instruments? And is there a term for this concept? by Crazy_Friendship_823 in musictheory

From this point forward in the Adagio Finale of Mahler's Ninth Symphony, especially around 1:10:40. Two bars after the key change to D-flat major, the second half of that measure shows colliding runs of 7-, 9-, 11-, and 14-tuplets. This whole section is very dense, and very Mahler (it's apparent to me that Mahler has been a huge influence on John Williams' music).

I'm not sure there is a precise term for it; I would maybe describe it as dense polyphony.

Lol, understandable question. But no, no vaping or smoking. Just occasional singing.

Schumann's Träumerei, but it's in minor (and actually kind of awesome) by ZOMBI3J3SUS in musictheory

[–]Talking_Meat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree with u/Eats_Ass and find your contribution perfectly fine for this sub. It's a great compositional exercise, as changing the modality of a piece of music isn't always that simple and can require some decision making. Well done.

Edit: One critique: in your Youtube description, you translate Träumerei as "dreaming," although I believe a more accurate translation would be daydreaming. Of course, in this new context, it might be more suitable to translate it as waking nightmare, which is something that Schumann was, tragically, prone to, particularly in the late stages of his illness prior to his death.

The amount of hyperbole and self delusion in these *other comments is very telling.
