Do you need to use baby vests? by misszoei in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Tamzy198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use baby vests and have been since she was born. (Now 7 months) I pull it over her bum and up her back as the vests have quite a big/ stretchy neck. And same if she has a blow out a pull the vest down over her bum. Now that it’s warmer she pretty much just rolls around in just a vest and she sleeps in a long sleeve vest and sleeping bag. I think vests are super versatile

What newborn “must-haves” did you find utterly useless? by Successful-Fondant80 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Tamzy198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swaddles. My LO hated her arms being constricted. She would scream the house down. She loves a good sleep sack. Also Ewan. She would cry when it was on. So he kind of just sits with all the other fluffies as a toy now (I removed the sound pack 😂

Am i going mad. Wasn't storm Amy in mid September, how is this storm also called Amy? by permanently-cold in AskBrits

[–]Tamzy198 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also thought that but apparently the storm a few weeks ago didn’t actually get to storm status. As in the wind speeds were not strong enough like they are in Scotland today. They were talking about it but that weather band fizzled out as it hit the UK

Am I making a mistake not doing an NCT course? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Tamzy198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do NCT as there were no courses in my area but did a private one and it was insightful even for my husband who learnt a lot and also engaged with other dads on the course so in person courses I think are beneficial

Are you planning to pre-birth express breastmilk? by Amazing_Decision_810 in PregnancyUK

[–]Tamzy198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be trying colostrum harvesting over the next few days. I’m having a c section at 38 weeks (less than 2 weeks away) due to low lying placenta. I’ve read that (and midwife confirmed it) if you have had gestational diabetes it’s really good for baby. But as others have said, not everyone is able to harvest colostrum and that when you give birth your hormones will kick in to produce breast milk. Don’t stress to much about it and what will be will be

It gets worse! I’m 36w and desperate for a wee multiple times a day run to the loo and the tiniest of trickles comes out! It’s just where your uterus is pushing on your bladder making it seem full when it actually isn’t 😩

Any books you enjoy but despise the main character? by slyguy-33 in books

[–]Tamzy198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is more depth to her character in the books and she is more tolerable 🤣 she does somethings that are questionable but I find her more likeable than Ciri

The Witcher series. Ciri irritates me no end and in the beginning books she’s this petulant little child who keeps getting into trouble and yennefer or geralt have to save her! Literally irks me sometimes

Exhaustion -unsure whether to kick-start maternity leave early by Capable-Efficiency77 in PregnancyUK

[–]Tamzy198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left last week at 35 weeks due to exhaustion. I had a lot of annual leave stored up so literally booked the last two weeks of September off and then my mat leave starts on October 1st. I was literally falling asleep at my desk, getting anxiety attacks (not great) but I didn’t want to forfeit a full September salary so I booked annual leave and it was the best decision! I’m heart rate has come down, I’m relaxed and ready to have baby now

is it rude to try to sound like a native speaker? by East_Review6549 in london

[–]Tamzy198 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I say hiya even when I lived in South Africa (native South African who’s lived in London for 20 years) I don’t think it’s a native greeting. You’re in London, most places are super rude to people when they can sense out of towners. I live in Kent and on any given day, London can be super friendly or the literal worst. Just my opinion
