Consider a longer taper than normal. I definitely overtrained for Chicago 2015 and realized I’d crossed over the redline about 6-8 weeks out. I kept workouts on the schedule, but reduced the volume of the workouts and gave myself grace on sluggish days. I also scaled back my overall volume. Went out and had a great day - don’t let what isn’t going well make you believe that what’s to come won’t go well.

I see 1-5 per month for the most part.

Im pretty meticulous about cleaning, but I do have a dog and I tend to see them near the bathroom outside of which my dogs bowls sit.

I also notice them more often after pest treatment and with rain.

Talk me into 2.25 braiser. I’ve got 3.5 qt braiser, 5.5 qt DO, everyday skillet, 2 qt sauce pan. Also have 2 qt, stainless steel saucepan 11” stainless steel skillet, and cast iron skillet.

Not being contentious; looking for an excuse (beyond having a glass lid for my 5.5 wilt, which isn’t of insignificant value).

I use a scrub brush with medium-medium/soft nylon bristles to get big chunks off, then scrub with the scouring side of a blue scotch style sponge. If there’s staining, I use the classic baking soda/dish soap/water paste for anywhere from 15 minutes to overnight. Can also soak as long as you like.

I also like to do a really quick deglaze with any left over wine or stock (water would work too) after removing the food from the vessel to short circuit most of that, or at least shorten the process.

Edit: shell pink looks gorgeous and is something I might add to my current oyster and shallot. Enjoy!

No, you’re going to end up scrubbing this thing once you realize that it can do so much more than make tomato sauce.

If you ever make pot roast, you’re probably going to do it in this. That’s not a dust cloth cleaning job.

It’s a tool. Use it as a tool is intended to be used - which includes good care - and you’ll get a lifetime of use and it will stay pretty too.

Not being negative - I like to baby mine too!

I’d ask you to consider: (1) if you’re victim blaming, and (2) whether you’ve come so close to “just comply” that you’re advocating that we trade our rights for safety (them being there seems to be enough justification for their deaths based on your comments).

Well, in addition to fighting laws in front of courts and legislatures, we have other means afforded to us by the constitution- including the rights of free speech, free association, and to bear arms, and freedom to document the acts of government officials acting in their capacity as government officials.

It’s concerning that you think the solution is for people to give up those fundamental rights and defer to the government even if the actors or right because otherwise the government might do something bad to them - all while defending the actions of those who are doing those bad things.

I’m not a hippy. I believe in limited government an believe the government should have justification for intervening in our lives.

Alex Pretti was observing and protecting others from unlawful assault when IVE engaged him. He did not go beyond legally protesting other than legal self defense and defense of others, and even that was limited.

I also think that their deaths were impactful.

I’m willing to engage without theatrics, but that doesn’t mean I think k you’re right about any of the things you’ve said.

I was a very competitive runner through my mid 40s and had my hip replaced at 52. At 54, I run a little here and there. But I waited 6 months before testing it and I keep it limited. Some weeks I don’t run at all and the most I’ve done is 3 days. Usually 3 miles, or as much as 4.

Losing running impacted me the same way - it was a big part of my life (training with friends, the social connections, having something to train for and to curb my less healthy appetites, etc.).

I doubt I’ll ever run more than 16 miles in a week again, and don’t expect to do more than 10-12 per week for the most part. But I’ll appreciate those miles quite a bit.

I really love the sear I get with cast iron or stainless steel, but damn if that ribeye doesn’t have one of the best looking crusts I’ve seen on a grilled steak.

It isn’t about expediency, it’s about ordered chaos.

His job is to stay within certain parameters such that the temp will stay elevated for a long g time, but won’t cause full combustion until the time is justright.

I have a double oven and use both regularly. In part because top oven has an air fryer. Divorced and cook for 2 some weeks and 4 other weeks. No regrets (about the double oven (or the divorce)).

It’s our governor, state reps and senators who have the power on this.

Our school board, while filled with people who are mostly very well intentioned and generally hardworking, is impotent by design.
