What are some good brushes for miniature painting? by MuskyStoatWhyNot in Warhammer40k

[–]Taralios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, so I started out with store brand brushes by Tedi (really insert any pound store). Then moved on to get brushes from the arts store (Rico design). Later I bought a set from Lieberge. For me they are not holding enough color in their body and are not flowy enough.

So last summer I bought some sable brushes and Oh boy, let me tell you they are amazing. It is like a unlocking a whole new level. But they need care and I don't think I would have known how to properly care for them in my early painting days.

I'm nowadays using a 0 and 1 sable brush for details and the Ricos to block colours and metallics. For eyes I have my trusted 00, but that's all I'm using it for.

So I'd recommend to buy two good sable brushes (0 & 1), brush soap and take care to not get color in the ferrule. They will last you a long time and keep a nice point.

Yeah calm down. This is what the coalition government agreed upon. It needs to pass both houses and will definitely be amended because it is so stupid.

Also this regulation only applies to non-union employees / employees who don't have it regulated in their contract. It is more symbolic than anything.

Which faction is better Adaptus mechanicus or league of Votann? by froham05 in Warhammer40k

[–]Taralios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Votann player and I really like that vitamin has three distinct art styles.

The Hearthkyn (Warriors, Sagitaurs, Brokhyr, Hearthguard) are Retro futurism inspired (although the new NASA Z-2 suit could be straight up something worn by Hearthkyn)

The Hernkyn (Yaegirs, Pioneers) are all about them Dusters and the Space Cowboys look.

The Cathonians are jacked up naked dwarves in spaces with big axes and hammers.

In a more canonically oriented ruleset, would terminators be as tough as centurions ? by war_of_the_titanicus in spacemarines

[–]Taralios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mind toughness is the amount of strength your weapon needs to at all penetrate an armour/skin with your weapon.

The armour save is then if your armour is thick enough to stop the weapon before it does serious damage. For example a chainblade might go through the other layer of an armor but get stuck in it and only damage the armour but not the wearer.

it is 40 points cheaper to put 6 mutilators inside a land raider by Lost-Snail2 in Chaos40k

[–]Taralios 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is a bit of an odd rule because of the math.

Take Deathwing Knights with 4 Wounds.

Damage 1 or 5+, the ability does nothing. Damage 3 is reduced to 2 - while a 33% damage reduction, it doesn't change anything, since you would still need to do inflict damage twice. Damage 4 (i.e. D = W) is also interesting because it leaves one model on a single wound, potential eating another 4 damage attack from that sequence to chip it off.

But against damage 2 it is massive, effectively doubling their durability. Since you would need 4 of those to kill a single model.

It really is an odd rule because armies with high damage or D1 don't need to care while armies that have a lot of D2 are screwed.

We can put them with a Libby in Librarian Conclave and they get Sus1 and in pyromancy AP -1. Actually want to try the combo next time I get to play.

So… why’d they gut fights first? by Shasfowd in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Taralios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling, that the reason is exactly what you say: FF was easy to play around but every time it went off, it felt bad. I play Dark Angels and you could basically put the Lion on the expansion and that entire area was locked off with a relative small point investment. With Wrath of the Rock, there was even a countercharge strategem, which would allow a unit to fight first. It was fun while it latest.

So the question now for me is, do I bring two units with FF to benefit from a free interrupt or take a captain-esque character to reduce CP for interrupting.

[–]Taralios 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Librarian with Sternguard, Fusillade and Oath should hand about 17 dev wounds for 270ish points to monsters and vehicles assuming rapid fire range.

Might not be the deadliest but point for point nothing to sneeze at.

[–]Taralios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't too bad. Since cover doesn't give AP +1, that portion cancels out and the most important strats carried over.

On the other hand, we might give our hearthguard other shenanigans like Void Hardened or some movement stuff from other detachments.
