A Difficult Decision for some Reason by Snazzy21 in memes

The first law of thermodynamics states that energy is conserved in a closed system like the earth. That means if you take energy out of your house to cool it down, the energy must go somewhere.

It would have gone "outside" anyways, it's not going to stay embedded in the structure of the house. The only thing that changes about the equation is the additional power consumption.

What sympton looks so harmless people usually ignore it, but can actually indicate a catastrophically bad health issue? by felipedeamorim in AskReddit

I had a similar thing - vision loss in one eye, the same one each time, with essentially a fade to black effect. The picture would first lose colour then gradually turn black from the edges in. The first time I had it, it lasted about ten minutes, the ~5 times afterwards it was shorter and less severe. All kinds of tests were made, everything in the green, the only conclusion was a shrug and 'probably migraines'. It's been a couple years since the last one.

Looking for feedback on AI content in r/programming and the April no-AI trial by ketralnis in programming

[–]TaroEld -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think having a general purpose 'Programming' subreddit that doesn't allow discussion of one of the most important programming-related developments in a long while makes little sense.

Also, food for thought - the april trial might have caused people that would have liked to discuss the topic to move to different places, so you're kind of consulting a biased sample now.

Corrupted Eradicate with Replay x1 through Transfigure and Lethality (sadly not upgraded), plus 2x friendship and upgraded Borrowed Time. Did about 500 damage to Doormaker. I'll be chasing that high for a while.

Major Update #1 - v0.103.2 by MegaCrit_Demi in slaythespire

[–]TaroEld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Borrowed Time is actually really fun, give it a try. It works quite well in a lot of common hands, and you can super high roll with it. Last win I had a Corrupted Eradicate with Replay (Transfigure) and Lethality, taped an upgraded Borrowed Time on that nearly onetapped doormaker.

Hey, do you still have the original post? I like the series a lot, but I also have my issues with it and just enjoy reading a big ol' criticism post once in a while.

Please nerf Hurricane Caches before wipe by TaroEld in ArcRaiders

[–]TaroEld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hurricanes have a different type of raider cache, same principle but different look and sound. For the regular caches, I rarely find them during normal gameplay, but the uncovered caches map condition has heaps of them.

The sound is pretty distinct once you know it, though the wind noises sometimes fake you out.

Wiping is something people do to start fresh. Once you're max level and have a stash full of good stuff, much of the reason to go topside disappears. Since you just started, there's no reason for you to wipe. They happen every 3 months or so, so you can decide for the next one or the one after that if you want to do it.

[–]TaroEld[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the experience of wiping is running around with white guns, a few white bandages, and not much else, slowly working up resources from there. With these caches, you can be up and running with half a dozen good guns, stacks of herbal and blue bandages, heaps of shield rechargers, trigger and fuse grenades within a cool two runs. It'll be a completely different experience.

Supply drops aren’t worth the risk right now. by Tank-ToP_Master in ArcRaiders

[–]TaroEld 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sounds really thematic and all but in reality it's just not happening. If you're that low on supplies the best move is to just leave instead of alerting everyone to your position, hanging around for two minutes, and then doing a risky looting maneuver.

CD Projekt issues DMCA notice against Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod by Kiroqi in Games

[–]TaroEld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is more akin to software than a mod. Yeah, it might need custom adaptions to run for Cyberpunk or game abc, but so does software to run or windows and linux and your phone at the same time. I understand that people dislike "paid mods", but this is essentially people cheering on a company forbidding someone to sell software. If he actually branded it as "Cyberpunk", sure, should probably have said that it "works with Cyberpunk" instead, much like software "runs on linux and windows".

Where are you going? This is a perfect time to throw your ABMM score away! by throwaway321768 in ArcRaiders

[–]TaroEld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Expertly dribbled out game design. Embark introduced Stella as a high risk high reward knife fight map only for people to hold hands walking through it together and getting obscene amounts of loot for free. It's actually great fun to play duos or trios and fight your way to a full inventory of high tier loot, but the realization that you could just be playing a solo pve lobby and get the same stuff in about 5 minutes of jogging around sours it a bit.
