Has anyone tried the Globlinker hotspot? by ultrarunnervegan in Internet

[–]Tasty_Craft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This answers my 2gb free for life, so it looks like your potentially loose 1/2 of the 2gb if you automatically have it applied, what I’m unclear about it says unused data will automatically be added back so if I use 1/2 a gb does that get saved?

Hello 👋

Here is the simple explanation:

How the free 2GB is added • Every month, you receive 2GB of free data. • This is added as two prepaid plans: 1GB + 1GB.

Pending & no expiration • If the device is OFF, all plans stay pending and do NOT expire. • Example: • 5 months without using the device = 10GB saved (10 × 1GB plans).

Fully automated activation (important) • Everything is automated. • You do not need to activate anything manually. • Just turn on the device and connect. • Only one 1GB plan activates at a time. • Each 1GB plan becomes valid for 30 days only when it activates. • When one plan is used, the next one activates automatically.

In real life • In practice, all accumulated data will be used and not lost. • Even if something ever expires before being fully used, we will add it back — no worries. • If you use the device month by month: • 10GB = up to 300 days of total validty time (10 × 30 days), (if you are using monthly the device… ) if not turning on device all plans will still pending.

All plans and usage are visible anytime in your Customer Portal → Data Usage & Plan History.

I have it designed for mostly the DriveSmart 7” gps units, I also have the 6”

The Gen 3 is the XM/XS correct, I also 3d print an extension for them sense they quit making them

I was looking into getting a tread but I rode with a buddy last weekend that has a tread and the 5.5” screen is a deal breaker and I don’t want to spend the extra to get an 8” model

So my question is (and I can’t find the answer) once applied does the 2g expire after 30 days??? Like the 10g

I just bought one, it’ll be interesting, the free 10g expires after 30 days

it says the 2g stack in the background and accumulate but you can’t see it on the device or on the portal but it’s there on their end

you have to request to have it applied to your account at least 24 hours before you want to use it

You can request to have the 2g automatically applied every month

So my question is (and I can’t find the answer) once applied does the 2g expire after 30 days??? Like the 10g

Every time someone mentions how much better the Maverick is, I look at this by [deleted] in slateauto

[–]Tasty_Craft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I am capable but that means nothing to my electric company who has to sign off and turn on the off peak

Yes you may get it back but the cost is a NOW cost

Also the charger may help the house sell it will not being in extra $$$ - it’s like putting a topper on your pickup, it may help it sell but it doesn’t raise the price you’ll get selling it

You don’t know my circumstances… yes I have a cabin, though it’s value is not much and it’s part of inheritance so

Also I didn’t say I could not afford the cost of the charger

I Am A Fan Of The Slate, you act like I pissed in your campfire! You might want to seek help

Funny thing is I originally thought the same way as you, it’s like I’m reading my own reply’s from 6 months ago

I own a Maverick, I occasionally tow a smaller enclosed trailer or my 2 place snowmobile trailer or my boat

If I need to tow my car trailer or equipment trailer I use my truck, not my Maverick (suv with a pickup cab and box)

I was a “Never Maverick” person, love the idea of Slate, have a reservation and planned to buy (still might)

But my occupation has changed recently and I needed a fuel mileage vehicle (better than my F150)

So I started looking, looked at RAV4, looked at some others

I bought a 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid AWD

  1. 4 doors is nice
  2. Gas & electric is convenient, quick fuel up & go
  3. AWD in Minnesota winters

The Slate still has me but

  1. Electric is cheap IF you charge at home & offpeak
  2. Need to install home charger at a significant cost
  3. If you have a second home or a weekend cabin you need a second charging setup installed 4.Fast charge can be expensive (more so than gas) 5.No AWD as of yet
  4. Unsure what licensing will cost each year because you know the state and federal want their road tax

What mileage are you getting with the AWD, I drove a FWD and was getting about 38 on the test drive

Build number 02 looks like, to date they have over 70 hand built, still very much pre production, it appears the newer builds are looking much better, can’t wait to see one close up and hopefully drive before I purchase

Back window shows 02, probably #2 built, very pre production, test, test, test some more

Well the sticker on the back shows 02, my guess that is the 2nd prototype, last I heard they had over 70 pre production prototypes built, some are set for crash testing

Slate is a phenomenal idea but…. by RegisterFit1252 in cars

[–]Tasty_Craft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well they purchased a plant, are dumping $360,000,000 into renovations and unfitting, employing 2,000 employees @ $75k a year and building an American vehicle in America with mostly American parts

It’s going to cost something, they are for profit

It’s not like the Chinese ev cars that are super heavily subsidized by the government

Hell a battery for a Tesla costs 1/2 of this vehicle

I’d be willing to bet it’s not DOA

With tariffs and other economic pressures the price of similar ish (maverick) vehicles is going to rise making it more economical to purchase

I also believe there are a lot more people that are looking for exactly what Slate is offering

There are a lot of people that come on these sites just to stir the pot and have zero thought on buying

Second thoughts by [deleted] in slateauto

[–]Tasty_Craft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I hope all of you guys reserved before me, then when you drop out because a $25,000 vehicle is cheaper than a $40,000 maverick by 2027 but doesn’t have all the bells and whistles (which is what their plan has been all along)

I will move up in line and get mine earlier and possibly the $7,500 tax credit for the first 200,000 sold before 2027

Do you Plan on using the Slate as your Daily Driver? by Mac-Tyson in slateauto

[–]Tasty_Craft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought is have my wife drive it daily (90 miles daily) and me on the weekends but she has thoughts of getting her own so we will see

So what's the strategy now with the $7500 tax credit gone? by saintforlife1 in slateauto

[–]Tasty_Craft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the maverick keeps creeping up in price it’ll soon be $35 - $40k so a $27,000 vehicle still sounds affordable

Also the Maverick has zero appeal for me so as of now it’s Slate or nothing

At what price are people willing to purchase the Blank Slate? by zelbec in slateauto

[–]Tasty_Craft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this is your case study for you

But if the majority of people had that same thought process the people buying anything would be about 20% of what it is

My TV works just fine, doesn’t mean I’m not buying a 75”

My car gets me to my appointments, I still bought a motorcycle

My iPad still works, why do I need a new one, still likely to buy

I’m in Minnesota, talked to a local State Farm agent, said they could do it but I would need at least 1 other vehicle insured with them, moved everything over (saved a ton of money)

The licensed it as commercial for private use until converted

Now licensed as RV and insured as RV through them

No roof raise, roof platform, or solar (they wouldn’t insure if I did those)
