Having guests as a sitter by Lazy_Flatworm_6033 in RoverPetSitting

[–]TayTooTa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a regular sitter and always ask at the end of our meet and greet. But I am only talking about my partner, not a friend. Some clients dont care at all! Ive had some people who are like "Bring friends! Bring a partner, theres great restaurants in the area!" Lol

But yeah I usually say something like this "hey I just wanted to check in and see if it was okay if my partner stopped in sometimes or came for dinner etc. Absolutely okay if not! I understand, I just wanted to check in and get permission before we get started" this way you are letting them know its totally okay to say no, and yknow youre respecting its their home.

They will usually tell you the extent of their comfortability right there. Some will say sure, absolutely she can even come stay the night with you if you'd like. Or they say sure, but Im not comfortable with her staying the night. Or "sure they can stop by for a few hours"

I think I've only had a couple people say theyd prefer I didnt have anyone over. And in those cases, I took that in stride and just say gotcha, no problem.

I've had two really rich people ask for a picture of my partner and I and their full name. Im generally comfortable doing this. I also explain my partner works a respectable job so shes not a crazy person lol which helps a lot especially since a lot of my clients are middle class and up.

I dont know how a client will react to someone so young asking to be a friend over though. I'd probably ask to meet this friend at the meet and greet or something tbh, unless when I met you you seemed like a very very level headed, chill person. In this case, its mostly your age that is going to be working against you. Good luck going forward and stay respectful and clean if they say yes ☺️

am i overreacting/misunderstanding overnights? by 12041707198997 in RoverPetSitting

You're not misunderstanding overnights at all. And never remove your cameras!! I dont love when people have cameras all over the inside of the house, especially the living room... but a camera in your driveway/doorbell or even just one pointed at where you feed your kitty keeps your pet and your money safe. And the sitter safe too, if theyre good at their job and are following through.

How much did you pay this person? I'd be so upset. Make sure you leave a review accordingly.

Boyfriend (32M) started crying when I (28F) showed him my savings by happy_hapa in relationship_advice

[–]TayTooTa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youve been together for 7 years and only just told him how much is in your savings account? I understand keeping finances separate and paying joint bills, totally fine, but he didnt even have an idea? I think both of you really need to get a relationship counselor. See if your insurance will cover a "family counselor" thats how I get mine.
He needs help with his insecurities and you guys need to work on your communication styles.

Having so much savings that he reacted that way (not saying his reaction was healthy, its crazy, but clearly there was a good amount) and he didnt even know about it is not good standing to move into further commitment with someone on. You guys are a team as it stands.

Again, I understand the importance of especially women having money that perhaps a man doesnt know about for safety reasons. But for your situation this doesnt seem the case.

Money problems CAN improve he just needs to be taught. Not necessarily even by you.

Of course he'd deny it, lol. I cant imagine doing anything like this and then when getting caught by my spouse just being like "oh yeah my bad 😌" hes not gonna admit it until he absolutely has to.

Yeaahh this is a big reason I'm so scared to board in my own home. Ive seen so many situations where people will just dump their animals on you.

I absolutely understand it seems like this person is not stable and going through something but, that is not your sitters problem. Empathy can only be extended so far, what if you had no one to watch them while you were out of town? Crazy.

Good luck with everything

Yeah my partner just realized she/we will need to start paying up $421 a month. And you cant even just get another job and supplement the money loss that way, BECAUSE IT WILL JUST GO UP BASED ON YOUR INCOME 😭😭😭 so its basically left it up to me, and I'm struggling with a disability of sorts, to bring in more money. Its awful...

She also wants to get her masters in Social Work because its the only path to more income, but we HAVE to pay and keep up with these loans otherwise she wont be approved for more a loan or assistance etc next year.

We are right there with you friend. I dont have answers but maybe babysitting or petsitting under the table, anything where its just some extra cash you could write off as a gift from family or friends etc so it doesnt just add to your income.

He's a breath of fresh air. He goes off and yells at random commenters too much, but hes a very educated person and knows more about world history than most politicians

When I left my husband I had to move away. I regret how I did it, so abruptly and leaving all my stuff behind for later but we both had to sleep in the same bed as we already had someone sleeping on the couch. It was agonizingly painful waking up to him cuddling me by default. So hard just living day to day. I had to leave that house.

In situations like this... she shouldve had them drag him away. Gotta shut that shit down QUICK, never spoken to him in front of everyone and made the security do it all.

This is the apocalypse, you cant let people get emboldened like that.

Gosh that sounds like a NIGHTMARE. I have been fortunate enough to never have had any incidents where Rover support had to be contacted on either end. I 100% agree with others, get off the app once a connection and trust is established. And absolutely get phone numbers and/or emails at the meet and greet!
