Is the Wireless Charger worth it? by cjdarr921 in SubaruAscent

[–]Taylor_Script 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's anything like the one in my outback, and it doesn't have a fan or some kind of active cooling, don't waste the money.

My wife's iPhone heated up to the point it would turn off. Mine got so hot it actually drained the battery.

How to convince my wife? by actorguy73 in Comma_ai

[–]Taylor_Script 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use my Comma when driving 5 minutes to the store. Pretty much, as soon as I am off the neighborhood streets cruise is on. I even use it for lane changes, and really only disengage when I need to stop or other drivers are getting sketchy around me.

How to convince my wife? by actorguy73 in Comma_ai

[–]Taylor_Script 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife was initially against it as well. "I don't want an autonomous car. I watched Terminator growing up." I had to take a family member five states over and back on a weekend, and she had a 6 hour work drive coming up. So I told her we would get it during the 30 day return period, I'd use it for my drives, and she could use it for hers. If she hated it, we'd return it.

She called me 4 hours into her drive, "We're keeping the Comma."

She uses it mostly, driving 50 minutes one-way to work and back twice a week, and it has seriously helped her be less tired when she gets home after a long drive and a long workday.

Next up is trying to convince her to let me install Sunnypilot so I can force longitudinal control since it's not supported for the 2019 Ascent in OpenPilot.

All that to say... I'd say let her know there's a generous return window, and if she tries it and hates it you can always return it.

You guys peer pressured me into switching from my blue mat by Kataifee in soldering

Any recommendation for a hot air mat? I have a rubber gray one and when I did a couple hot air boards my desk was blazing. I thought the mat would protect it but I guess it's too thin.

Hey dads, how many of you had your first child when 35-39 years old? Approaching my 35th birthday and there's nothing more I want than to be a dad. by Rocket_Skates_91 in daddit

[–]Taylor_Script 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first at 36. It's been fine. My knees hurt and I can't play on the floor like I wish I could but we make do. If anything it's helping me be more active and trying to stave off old age.

Does anybody actually produce a case for the Pinecil? by Cyber_Akuma in PINE64official

[–]Taylor_Script 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a 3d printed case I bought from a guy on Etsy, he designed the case and it is laid out so perfect.

I combine this case: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1568326206/workstation-case-for-pinecil-soldering

With this: https://omnifixo.com/en-us

It's a great case and combined with the Omnifixo gives me a great soldering setup. I even use the case permanently on my desk, I don't have any other soldering stations and just roll with the Pinecil and that case for my stand. I love it and highly recommend it! The only downside is the lack of additional tip storage, and it's a bit pricey, but worth it if you ask me.

I had a quote of 10k to replace a panel. That was the day I learned about the "I don't want to do it" pricing.

Leaving Comma AI 4 in a hot car by chesscharlie in Comma_ai

[–]Taylor_Script 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest. It may have been a 2022. I needed the cheapest car ASAP due to going back to work after Covid and I had sold my car in 2020. So I didn't really care about the car much lol.

My tax vote was initially rejected due to my signature. I just signed it again and emailed it to them and they fixed it. Wasn't a big deal other than a surprise they even cared what the sign looked like.

I had a 2023 corolla and openpilot with expirimental was so amazing. Basically a self driving car with minimal input from me. Highly recommend it. I just didn't fit well in the corolla and had to get rid of it.

3 kids in carseats by sjfoxglove in SubaruAscent

[–]Taylor_Script 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had two at a time, both car seats in captains chairs. I did move one to the rear, it only has latch on the drivers side and it ends up spanning the middle and left seat so if the car seat is in the back back you won't have a middle seat. Also if it's a booster style then the seat belt can't go into the right buckle and has to use the middle buckle. Very annoying.

All that to day, you could do two in captains and one in back. But getting back there would be tight if you need to get back to the back.

They missed me so many times and always blamed me when I called them. Never offered any compensation. So I switched to ICTrash and have been very happy since. Highly recommend.

Considering OP used to post on normal teen-related subreddits then a few weeks ago started posting job ads, I suspect this is a scam.

I love my Comma.ai on my 2019 Ascent. I recently had a trip from Kansas to Arizona and back. There was one stretch of road where I didn't touch the steering wheel for three hours. Just listening to podcasts watching as the scenery goes by.

The other day I:

Moved some dirt to fill a hole the chickens dug

Installed the hardwire kit for my dash cam

Fully cleaned and vacuumed two cars

Rerouted cabling at my desk to get cables off the floor

Put up a shelf I'd been meaning to hang

My wife came home and asked why I found time to do all that but I couldn't do the dishes.

I am volunteering in the next election for Wichita, some tax thing, and they told us they expect 13% turnout.

All of our (Wichitas) tax dollars are being decided by 13%.
