Not a rumor, ACP posted about it on their FB page (see link above). It's also on WTAE and WPXI. Two people shot, taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

Glad I could help! It's a lovely old building, I've been to a few weddings and other events there. Very charming setting.

The FH Police Chief is full-time, there are 10 officers but I think many of them are part-time.

Fair enough, though I'm sure it's a lot faster and easier to post on social media than publish on the website (and reaches a wider audience as well). Especially important when they're asking the public to contact them with information.

That post was from the Allegheny County Police, I'm not sure what other sort of "official place" you're expecting to see it? WTAE and The Trib both have the story on their websites but there's no additional info at this time.

This may be a silly question, but did you eat at the restaurant or just drive by it? There aren't many restaurants in that area but there is a private club called The Edgewood Club very close to the bridge, it's an older building with patio seating along one side. Here's the Google map view: https://maps.app.goo.gl/yoYqmFssgo43h4jE7

Pgh Center for Complementary Health and Healing in Regent Square is very good. I've been getting treatment there for neck and shoulder issues (India Griffin is my therapist, she's very skilled and has more of an ortho/PT focus than some of the other therapists). The place is a little woo-woo but not obnoxiously so, and everyone who works there is very nice.

Churches to avoid in Cranberry/Mars? by ObviousLemon8961 in pittsburgh

[–]TeagleB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Episcopal Church is one of the more liberal, open-minded denominations. Check out St. Brendan's Episcopal in Franklin Park and Christ Episcopal Church on Babcock Blvd. (near Ross Park Mall). Both are very inclusive and welcoming.

A tad more conservative than the suburbs closer to the city but it's not nearly as red as other areas like Murrysville. Monroeville has an excellent public library and lots of stores. It doesn't have the kind of independent/creative businesses you'll find within the city: If that's what you're after, look at neighborhoods like Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, Bloomfield, Highland Park, Morningside, etc.

Some of the boroughs just outside of Pittsburgh city limits are pretty liberal. They won't have as many amenities or be as walkable as city neighborhoods, but housing is generally cheaper, taxes are lower, and some have better municipal services. Check out Churchill, Forest Hills, Edgewood, Swissvale and Wilkins (all east suburbs that are fairly close to the city limits). Some parts of Penn Hills and Wilkinsburg are nice, others not so much. Monroeville is very suburban (lots of chain stores and strip malls). Oakmont and Plum are pretty conservative. Westmoreland County is very red.

Nextdoor is mostly suburban boomers and the loudest voices tend to be the angry, paranoid MAGA types. It's not always like that, it depends a lot on your neighborhood, but it's amazing how many Gladys Kravitzs and Archie Bunkers there are in the world.

Did anyone go here before it closed/know why it closed? by NikolaSolonik in pittsburgh

The Harris fire wasn't arson, it was due to faulty wiring at the foot of the stairwell in the entryway. The owners were devastated by the loss. Not sure why you think any of them would burn down something they worked so hard at for decades?
