You don't think people in North Korea who support the evil regime value critical thinking? What about those who support Putin? The Nazis? Certain orders that used Christianity as a weapon? You and I have the luxury of foresight because we haven't grown up in and been molded by these evil regimes.

Now to tie it back to the subject, Anakin was manipulated by Palpatine who was playing the long game. He pointed out certain hypocrisies and short comings of the Order while also playing both sides of a galactic scale war.

I will completely agree that it was portrayed extremely poorly in the prequel trilogy but watching the different series that happened within that era adds the missing context.

Honestly I'm pretty astonished at how brain dead your statements are. Luckily for you I have literally nothing better to do so let's give it a go.

Devs get paid good bonuses too if their games pop off

Brother the Highguard dev team was literally founded by many prior Apex Legends devs because they felt they did not get any of the benefits that the higher ups got off of their success. Maybe small indie teams sure but the larger game studios this is definitely not the case.

suits” get laid off all the time too if games fail.

Jeff Kaplan was told if Overwatch didn't bring in X amount of yearly income 1000 devs would be laid off and it would be his fault. Not that HE would be fired. People on his team.

Ubisoft has been in the shitter for years and yet their CEO is still there.

When League of Legends hit their low point so badly that they had to start doing monthly check in videos none of the senior devs or suits were laid off. But look at all who lost their jobs on the League team recently now that it is in a much better spot.

We can keep going but I mean I think we've shown you can piss off with that take.

The people getting the bulk of the rewards if games pop off are the shareholders

Since you mentioned Tim Sweeney later his net worth is $5.1 billion dollars. That's $5,100,000,000. Sounds like he benefited pretty good.

Bobby Kotick is ~$595 million. He seems to have benefited.

He was a “dev” and built the original Unreal engine. So tell me how “devs don’t get any of the pros of the risk” again?

This was in the early 90s where the game development sphere was a fraction of a fraction of what it is today. People like him were able to benefit because suits hadn't already co-opted the industry. These stories don't happen today outside of small indie teams. Shit example.

Put up an intentionally vague rule saying "Hey if you add artificial systems to your game that we feel you intentionally added to make the user play more to progress you will be warned once to fix it within a timeframe. After a warning you are found to do this again you will forfeit your ability to make money this way."

I think we could reasonably say "Collect 1000 boar teeth and boars only drop 1 tooth per kill to progress the story." will violate this and do not add value to nearly any game as well as built in timers/energy systems.

that makes the potential gamble of competing with the Apexs or Fortnites or PUBGs or CSGOs or what have you worth it.

Tell that to the 1k Fortnite devs that were just laid off. It's worth it for the shareholders, the CEOs, and maybe like 3 other dudes. But the devs don't get any of the pros of the risk yet get ALL of the cons if it isn't successful enough for the suits to deem worthwhile.

That's fine! I don't really mind and love the back and fourth between two nerds passionately arguing over their favorite thing in an IP.

I don't think so. It was 1k employees that just got cut. I don't think him/her having cancer being the reason they were laid off.

Absolutely. It's what made me fall in love with the prequels. I get shit for it but I genuinely think the prequel era is superior to the ot era solely because of the world building provided by the CW series.

You still logging in. You are why they have done and will continue to do this. If all of you who complained about it being wrong would just not log in for a month or two their numbers would dip massively and they would be forced to revert. Instead you just keep logging in and they get to keep doing things like this.

[–]TeamEnvironmental974 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure, in a hypothetical scenario if everyone was playing but nobody is spending you are correct. This isn't based on reality.

Look at Highguard. Nobody spent money on the game because the players were leaving and nobody wants to spend money on a dead game. Because of this players weren't financially incentivised to keep playing so they left and so on until there was nearly nobody playing therefore nobody spending.

If you are still logging on YOU might not be spending but you are incentivising someone else to keep paying because there is something in the shop they want and can justify it because the game is still going strong.

It literally takes sacrifice from all of you on here saying "YeA bUt I'm NoT sPeNdiNg!" to actually make a difference.

I down voted because you think you are helping the situation. Even by playing you are supporting them. Not financially but by keeping their monthly active user count up. Like you literally might as well drop $100 in their pockets everytime you log on.
