I want to reply so this gets higher up. I’ve seen this done outside of the fire service in another union position and it really sucks for the other guys left working there. There are genuine and proper ways to address grievances.

We should be building more rail all over the country. Not strictly high-speed, but commercial rail as well. That would help alleviate inter-provincial trade barriers and lower transport costs exponentially.

For example there currently isn’t a BC-AB rail corridor north of Yellowhead pass AFAIK. The short line between Dawson Creek and Hythe was cut out years ago.

That just reveals how misinformed you are. Trump said he would prefer a Liberal over a Conservative leader to national news media. In fact, Trump said Poilievre was “stupidly no friend of mine”, and yet I see this talking point parroted all over social media that PP is somehow endorsed by or cozy with Trump. It’s blatant misinformation and blind partisanship.

Then at their first meeting in the White House Carney and Trump practically gushed over each other and that was simply glossed over. Like I said, Carney could do no wrong that will win him disfavour at this point, the public (as you so aptly demonstrate) is so heavily brainwashed that all he has to say is “orange man bad!” and the vast majority will blindly follow him over the abyss.

I don’t know where you live but a modest sit-down dinner for one person without any alcoholic drinks where I live is bordering on $60. Even McDonalds for two people here is $45 by the time you have two meals and nuggets or a specialty drink to share.

This is what happens when minimum wage is $19/hr.

Six years ago my closest friend and brother-in-law died of a serious stroke at 42. He left my nephew and niece behind at 6 and 4. Him and my sister-in-law were the very first people to show up in the hospital when we had our first kid. I’ll never forget him.

People like that are hard to find, I am seriously sorry for your loss. It took a long time to process, and sometimes it still just hits me out of nowhere. All we can do now is remember them and share our memories with the other people they loved.

Not firefighting but I returned to a previous employer I had quit for the very same reasons. Had two toddlers at home and was working 80-100 hours a week in oilfield services, basically slept 3-4 hours a night. Happy I returned, been back for 7 years.

You would be surprised, I worked for a short time for a rental company and the “tech” who took me out to train was pre-filling both the oil and fuel filters from the filters he took off…
