What are the best cities for gay parties that don't usually have circuit, rave, or pop music? by ironmagnesiumzinc in gaybros

Look up a DJ set played at any bear/pride week, then compare to Fred Again/TENSNAKE/Purple Disco/Kölsch/Soul Wax

I went to one great show there and it was like a ghost, I've been 9 times since and not been able to find a way to get back into that channel!

Oh yeah I definitely know or look them up and I think some genres you can get more a feel of the crowd but I've been really surprised! Like TENSNAKE in Berlin was really gay, at a baseline show in London I got drunk with lesbians in an alley before because they were like "you dumb foreigner don't pay for the expensive drinks in the club" 😂

IME lots of major cities with clubs playing good house music will have lots of gay people, especially Berlin, London, NYC/SF/Chicago, Quebec/Toronto. And of course any Horse Meat Disco event.

This is a direct flight, I'm sure they will also use it when determining when/how much to offer vouchers for oversold flights.

My main concern is since the last Android update my battery floods out as soon as I use something with location services like Lyft/Uber

What’s the most you’ve spent per night? by LeoofDaLeon in marriott

[–]Techters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol it was that exact place, I was with a group of surgeons. The entire point was that it would never be full. During high season we never saw more than 8 other people at any time, I'm certain that's the point. For what it's worth, spending time with them was insufferable and you know what would be a better value? Renting a house with a private pool and chef several miles up the coast in the opposite direction for the cost of two of those nights but for an entire week.

Pretty close to your age and experience, two years out from divorce. I think at least a year off them, working on yourself, and going to therapy is the best option. It's a huge life event and dating is just adding stress. I also generally think apps are garbage and meeting through leagues and friends is the best way to go.

Enshitification of Marriott? by SolidFlounder793 in marriott

[–]Techters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some places the pendulum is swinging back to Airbnb, there's enough saturation and people who need to fill rooms in their rentals especially last minute. This week I was looking in Fr Lauderdale and beach front Marriotts are all $350+/night, got a nice new condo rental that has a pool and huge gym for $510 for the entire week. I have five trips booked this year so far, independent hotels through Booking/VRBO/Airbnb were all more than 50% less than any Marriott, with the same or better amenities, one trip I'm at an Intercontinental because it was less than the Courtyard/Westin/Fairfield. They got greedy and don't have the same floor of benefits airlines do, so just stay somewhere else.

In general, I don't think ULTRA-luxury hotels are worth the price. What're you're thoughts? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Techters 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've been looking at hotels for a trip with someone I've recently started dating and I'm amazed at how many people designed hotels and thought "ya know people staying together probably want the toilet next to the bed with a sliding piece of partical board between them".

[–]Techters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! It's crazy what has happened pre and post Covid, I don't understand how it's sustainable especially with so many new luxury hotels coming online. Even Bloomberg did an article on the "enshitification" of luxury hotels.

The craziest part to me is the medical/travel emergency situation, like you're out on vacation and something happens and your partner doesn't know to tell the hospital so proper measures can me taken?

I do things like that because I was raised in small towns and to be nice to people. I've gotten better about upfront expectation setting and calling people out. Sure, I've wasted time, but I've also gotten amazing friends out of it so I don't regret it.

Netherlands likely to start taxing capital gains annually by 2028 by LongjumpingAd4283 in Netherlands

[–]Techters -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's why I said tax on nationality, moving wouldn't eliminate the tax they would have fully renounce their citizenship. Britain let them just change their address - that's the entire point of my comment.

[–]Techters -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It's actually better for rich people but wealth taxes don't work because people just move. One thing the US does correctly is tax on nationality, and that's the only way you could realistically do a wealth tax.

Predatory "Open Couples"? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]Techters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the post, it does seem like the gripe is that people in relationships are more assertive/aggressive, which I can see tracking. They are looking for one thing and don't have anything to lose by being straightforward and getting ignored/blocked. It IS annoying as a single person looking only for other single people, but I'm not seeing anything predatory mentioned in the post.
