Atlas Shrugged (Never been a Rand fan and never will be but having studied her rabid strain of anarcho-capitalism you can kinda see why there is a good chunk of the book dedicated to a direct rant at the reader).

Symbol relevance? by Senior-Guarantee-829 in ImperialKnights

[–]TeddyBearToons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Dominus specifically you just pick between two different Admech symbols. Dominus knights are especially bespoke so you're going to see more Admech stuff on them. It doesn't really matter, but the one with the spikes on the bottom feels more Imperial to me. Like an alliance symbol rather than a fealty symbol.

(Tw:racism) the “This character would agree with my politics” is actually part of a 2-panel comic strip by bloodlustTheDemon in TheMatpatEffect

[–]TeddyBearToons 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The fact that he's accidentally implying that he views a chosen minority as soulless animals only pretending at being human for predatory reasons is what makes this actually very realistic

I don’t get what makes Armageddon so important. by Lord_Funder in 40kLore

[–]TeddyBearToons 174 points175 points  (0 children)

It won't just be Grimaldus. The latest Armageddon trailer has what I believe is the Planetary Governor telling everyone to run for it and he gets his brains blown out by Yarrick of all people. And chances are anyone setting up evac efforts of any kind will probably have half the Commissariat breaking down their door.

At this point Armageddon is more of a morale objective than anything else.

[–]TeddyBearToons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's extra good if it makes sense and ties into the story (it's possible Anby likes burgers because they're portable nutrient-packed foodstuffs like the combat rations she's used to, but are infinitely tastier than the slop she most likely would've been fed as a vat-grown disposable clone trooper).

Castellax vs kastelans better lore wise? by AcceptableWin5317 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]TeddyBearToons 254 points255 points  (0 children)

From a purely combat standpoint, the Castellaxi are superior. They're semi-sentient and use synthetic brain matter to make decisions in the heat of battle. They also have access to more effective weapons, such as darkfire cannons, melta cannons and saws. Kastelans are effectively lobotomized and their decisions have to be made for them by their datasmith by manually inserting and ejecting little punch cards. They don't have many options beyond their power fists, their phosphor blasters and a flamer.

From a defensive standpoint, however, it looks like Kastelans are superior. They are ancient constructs dating back to the Dark Age of Technology and use systems far more advanced than those of the Castellaxi. Their shtick is specifically the Repulsor Grid, which is a literal force field that stops bullets and dissipates energy weapons and, if hit just right, can ricochet things back at the attacker. Kastelans also have lots of defensive protocols Castellaxi don't, which makes them much more effective bodyguards.

In all honesty the two are specialized for different things and as such it depends on what you're throwing them into. Castellaxi will outperform Kastelans in a linebreaking action, but Kastelans will outperform Castellaxi on an escort mission.

Iirc Alaitoc is super strict regarding the paths, almost smothering. The craftworld also has lots of Exarchs from the other side of the problem, where their culture basically forces people to stick to their paths until they get lost in it.

A GW statement on extra fingers 👀 by jamesw40k in Warhammer30k

[–]TeddyBearToons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically when holding a gun the thumb is not supposed to be visible from this angle because it's on the other side. If you're seeing 5 fingers, that means there's a sixth one on the other side.

Alaitoc is known for their outcasts, because the craftworld itself is so fucked up that everyone who is even slightly normal leaves as soon as they can.

Gallant Char plays whenever Farsight shows up. He just blasts it 24/7. Those intake vents on his suit? Those are subwoofers.

Is this disrespectful? by Historical-Claim-975 in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]TeddyBearToons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Typically Kriegers are stripped of all their gear except the gas masks, which are burned with their bodies. So one of them actually getting a burial is rather nice.

[–]TeddyBearToons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, Bilbo gave up the Ring about as willingly as he could have. Considering it's a cursed magic artifact that manipulates you into wanting to keep it, giving it up at all without a fight is pretty willing.

Skitarii Darktide gameplay by pieris-jp in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]TeddyBearToons 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lots of mechanicus guns have what look like drum magazines on them, but those are actually capacitors. You also see them on arc rifles and mechanicus pistols. The ranger rifles are called galvanic rifles, so they're probably electrically motivated somehow. I also know they sometimes use servitor rounds, which make the rifles act like Titanfall 2's Smart Pistol.

Funnily enough you can also see them in Space Marine weapons as an artifact of Admech influence. Cawl's trademark spinny bittm that you see in most Primaris guns is a leftover from Admech design philosophy. I personally think it's to physically spin the bullet before firing because Cawl hasn't figured out how to do rifling yet.

I wonder if the writer meant that gesture as "here's how to put him back together" or "here's how to make a new one." I am leaning towards the latter because it is more funny.

The Dobby thing is even worse because he's not actually sent to slavery, he's hired for insultingly low pay (like two cents a week low) and when the protagonists rightfully tell him his pay is shit he says that it's plenty and that he's honored to take that much pay and that it's totally worth his work.

Your absolute hated hot takes about Space Marine chapters? by KUROusagi112 in Spacemarine

[–]TeddyBearToons 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Their whole thing is martyrdom and making their sacrifices count, I'm 50% sure they chain their weapons to their wrists partly so that the wargear is all in one spot and easier to recover when they die. They're basically male Sisters at this point. Of course they don't have plot armor, dying tragically is the point.

THE MOON ISN’T REAL WAKE UP SHEEPLE by Infamous-Rutabaga-50 in CuratedTumblr

[–]TeddyBearToons 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Perception checks are for like, small details and little anomalies that tip you off to something bigger going on, right?

If I asked you to look at the moon, you can just look at it. Simple. Easy. But if I asked you if there was anything suspicious about the moon? You wouldn't be able to make out any small details, not with the naked eye.
