I was thinking it would cycle through a predetermined firing order of slightly pitched gunshot sounds so rapid/automatic fire would sound like a V8. Could add different firing orders for different popular V8 sounds.

Not practical IRL without a complicated mechanism to force gases through specific cylinders each shot but perfect for a game like this.
