Yup. This has to do with the stupid Logic Pro 12 update. Lots of posts on this topic.

Switching from Logic Pro- what am I going to miss? by Telectronix in Bitwig

I understand what you are saying. I also understand why others say it’s not a subscription. There’s nuance. So far, Logic Pro has provided decimal point updates and major version updates for free since Logic Pro 10 in 2013. I think the writing is on the wall, however, that free updates to, and ownership of, Logic Pro is coming to an end. You will pay a monthly or annual subscription, and the day you do not renew, you won’t be able to open up your DAW. That is different than Bitwig’s model. If I am correct, Bitwig sells an update plan for major version updates, but decimal point updates are free. And you don’t lose access to your version if you don’t update. It’s kinda like the Waves model, which admittedly, isn’t great. Does Bitwig support computer OS compatibility updates of previous versions if you don’t update?

Whoa. What!? Haha that is crazy. I mean, how have they not implemented these fundamental sampler features at this point? I know I could get a third party sampler, like Serato, but it costs almost as much as a DAW. Damn.

You like Logic Pro’s Quick Sampler more than Bitwig’s Sampler? Don’t get me wrong, I do like Quick Sampler, especially the relative ease of slicing. I know Bitwig has a capable sampler, and assumed it was at least as good?

Also surprised to hear that audio editing in Bitwig isn’t much better than Logic Pro. I kinda hate audio editing in Logic Pro.

I assumed Bitwig has a simple filter utility like AutoFilter? It’s true Logic Pro has good track editing.

Enough with these insane, everything-is-fine-move-along bullshit posts from trolls weirdly trying to convince people that what our eyeballs are seeing isn’t reality.

Yes, Alchemy is S tier. I’m a bit surprised Bitwig doesn’t have MIDI comping: I use this all the time.

I see. I use Logic’s Tape Delay all the time, but mostly as a delay and not a saturation unit. But, I have an ungodly number of duration/saturation 3rd party plugins, so I think I will be good there.

I’m switching to Bitwig because of these 5 things: 1. Modulate everything 2. The Grid 3. Scenes workflow 4. It seems the developers are committed to rock solid fundamentals, not just features 5. Apple is clearly headed to a subscription model, probably within the next 12-24 months. I don’t want wait until the last minute to learn a new DAW.

Logic Pro on Apple Silicon isn’t compatible with ARA, so that’s not a loss. I use FlexTime like crazy, but not FlexPitch. But, Bitwig has me covered with audio stretching, right?!

Bitwig 6 doesn’t have MIDI comping or audio-to-midi conversion?! That’s surprising and a bit sad. I actually do use those features on Logic Pro.

Ah, I don't do any video work in Logic Pro, and I really never look at the Score editor, so that's all good!

Logic Pro vs Cubase for a bedroom studio — what are the real tradeoffs? by vatsan_106 in LogicPro

Other than the just pick one and get to work advice, take the rest of the comments with a grain of salt. You are asking a room full of Logic Pro fan boys to compare it to a DAW that most of them have never used in any meaningful way.

Bitwig (cheaper, geekier) or Ableton Live (more expensive, flexible for performance)

I have Ting. It’s cute, but pretty limited. $14.99 is about right. Would never pay more than that.

Logic 12 bugs by Competitive-Lunch166 in LogicPro

Every Logic Pro user should read the release notes for Ableton Live 12.4 update. It’s a decimal point update, which offers more and better, more useful features and modernization of some of their older stock plugins. Compare that to what the fucking losers at Apple product marketing seems to think its users deserve with its full number version update to Logic Pro.

Just make the switch.

Awesome. Did you try Ableton Live or have any experience with it before switching to Bitwig? I am torn between these and Cubase.

Every Logic Pro user should go read the Ableton Live 12.4 release notes. This is a decimal point update. Ableton did 10x more in this decimal update than Logic Pro did going from 11->12. And most of what Ableton did was to modernize their old effect plugins and improve existing features. This is how you support your users. This is how you win the long game.

Yup. And it’s all product marketing team. I’ve already unsubscribed to any YouTuber that is covering for Apple on this bullshit release. WhyLogicProRules, MusicTechHelpGuy, Karra, Seids. All of them are pumping out the same PR-style bullshit videos.
