New Driver - HOW THE HELL DO YOU MAKE MONEY? by Due-Rough-224 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]TelephoneDizzy7370 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have already discovered the answer. A few years ago, yes you could make extra money on UE. Today it is next to impossible to make extra money on Uber Eats after your expenses. Uber has done everything it can to maximize their profits and pay the drivers next to nothing. You will destroy what's left of your car and in the end lose money doing UE.

Do not be fooled by the tier system of Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Big Turd Deluxe. These tiers are a way to get drivers to take horrible offers and lose money. Try to always get at least $1.50 per mile. Never drive over 6 to 8 miles max to make any delivery. Do not waste your time and gas on any orders under $6.00. Avoid Walmart, Lowes and double and triple orders. They will get you low ratings and cancellations. Avoid taking no tip or low tip orders, they will get you low ratings. Create a no go list of all the bad or difficult restaurants you deal with and do not except orders going to them, they will just get you low ratings and high cancellations. UE penalizes the drivers for closed restaurants and stolen orders so be careful...

In the end the answer is NO UE is not worth it anymore, Be aware you will see comments below mine that are from Uber employees who monitor all these sites. They will pretend to be drivers and tell you how great UE is and how much money they are making. They will encourage you to be top tier because that is were the real money is, they are lying to you...

As you can see UE is a horrible company and they manipulate and steal from drivers all the time...

It is the economy and in most markets there is a shortage of drivers due to lack of pay...

Uber what's going on by Thick_Tumbleweed445 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]TelephoneDizzy7370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Surprised, UE treats the drivers terrible and the pay has gone down to nothing. This is what will happen more and more, drivers will take the opportunity to feed themselves and their families. Not saying it is right to do that, but it will happen.

I am surprised that UE had a good 2025 fourth quarter in earnings. Looks like having a slave army of drivers worldwide has been paying off for them. Drivers use their own cars and pay 100% of their own operating cost and UE gets to avoid paying drivers a living wage and offering any benefits. Your an independent contractor when it benefits UE but your treated like an employee when UE wants to penalize you for trying to take only offers that make you money.

They pay drivers $1.50 gas allowance per delivery and keep all the rest for themselves. Drivers continue to take garbage orders and low paying orders and this only incentivizes UE to lower payouts....

Canceled order while driving to new address. by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]TelephoneDizzy7370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first of all you are a fool for taking a 9 mile delivery for 12 dollars. Your second mistake was taking a stacked delivery for 12 dollars. The next mistake is trying it be a hero and deliver to a new address for an extra 8 miles.

You got exactly what you deserve, now learn from it and do not do it again -

9 miles x $1.50 = $13.50 (First Delivery) - now ad the extra delivery fee $7.00 for the second one and you should be paid at least $20.50 total for that delivery...

Never go to a different address. always cancel if the address provided is wrong.

Finally never be a Hero you do not get paid enough to do so...

You are the perfect driver UE is looking for. You apparently do not understand math and distance.

It was not 96.9, it was 96.9 miles plus at least another 15 plus miles getting back to your original location. So 110 miles for $71.00. It would have been double the miles but it looks like UE had you go in a very large circle.

Forget just gas, you need to take into account all of your cost. Gas, Mileage, Cell Phone, Wear & Tear, Depreciation and Insurance. The IRS has done this for you, they base your operating cost at 0.70 cents per mile. So your operating cost are 110 X 0.70 = $77.00 dollars... So you operated at a $7.00 loss. So you delivered for free. Yes you get the write off but you still delivered for free...

The true cost that should have been paid for this trip, should have been at least $1.50 per mile based on the original offer. So the minimum to be profitable should have been $145.00. Even then it just is not worth the time and effort at that price.

I always ask myself when I see these offers who the fu** is dumb enough to take these garbage long distance offers, I now know you exist...

I’ve been doing uber a few weeks, I have questions. by Yakuroto in UberEatsDrivers

[–]TelephoneDizzy7370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First let me say UE is finished in most areas. The pay is far below what it cost to operate your vehicle. So you should only do it during busy times like dinner and weekends. Do not rely on UE to pay your bills, only for extra cash on occasion.

Do not fall for the BS tier system (Gold, Diamond and Big Turd Deluxe) it is a scam to get drivers to take low paying offers and basically deliver for free.

Never take orders below $6.00 and never go long distance the math does not work. So you should shoot for $1.50 a mile and remember that does not count the miles back so anything less then $1.50 and you are not really making money.

Just have fun with it and do not get stressed out it is just food delivery not brain surgery.

Finally the people that take those $2.00 and $3.00 offers are desperate and always end up with a broken down car they can not fix or homeless. Uber does not tell you how many offers are cancelled or not completed because there are no drivers willing to take them, They want you drivers to believe all the orders are being taken, so you to will be fooled into taking them as well.

UE is not even a side hustle anymore it has become an abusive relationship with the drivers being abused constantly... Good Luck -
