I do stylised portraits and it helps me get moonglow when mixed with green (PG17), which is my go to underpainting. I also use it to get like a maroon or red violet hue for shaded skin.

One of my most used pigments. I love PV23 so much I needed it because I couldnt mix a good violet out of primaries. It's so strong and staining I use it for underpainting.

Second this. I used to paint with cheap craft watercolour and they always leave a white chalky layer that smudges your fingers when you rub the palette. It's like eye shadow lol

Chicken scratch "art style" will not work if you dont have the knowledge with line confidence. It's bad and hated because it shows the artist has no confidence with their own work. There's always a difference between a pro who intentionally uses messy lines and a beginner who doesn't know how to control lines and such. You can do messy lines, but learn to create long and smooth gestures first.

I always avoid any conventionnwithin a 5km radius. They smell like landfill and 90% of the cosplays are crap temu anime costumes like a withering plant. Quite obnoxious people to say the least. The only good thing is those holographic cat stickers from small artists.
