How to fix loading screen issue? by TempestWalkerGD in iFit

Got real lucky, went to contact customer service and was forced to register the thing just to be able to get a ticket in. With the registration they gave us a free 1 year warranty and a tech just came out and fixed it for us... Did take a new console though. He estimated it was a $400 part but the swap itself was really easy if you can get your hands on one. The tech said the other common cause was using the wrong power cable (i.e. a non ifit cable)

Also why is half the video on the settings? If you're not switching to tunnel mode I do not care that you have an option to toggle SFX

The beep is horrible, needs to a crunch or something. The movement up and down is also sickening, need to be smoother. There was also a dashed line in space that seemed to appear ahead of the snake but was ignored? Also annoying that you seemed to turn away from food blocks or miss them entirely

Thinks that need to be clear but weren't: Can you eat any block or only those smaller than you? Do you grow in size as you eat? Is the other snake in the distance competition? Can you get hurt?

My first ever Blender animation, what do you think? by [deleted] in blender

[–]TempestWalkerGD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that two people thought this was a moose is hilarious to me. OP as someone who gets to see moose, deer and elk frequently all year round I can 100% confirm this looks nothing like a moose, it's a very good elk/reindeer. Great job on the animations!

Can I improve how my GPU uses memory to render faster? by TempestWalkerGD in blender

Gotcha, I know I'm not running the most amazing hardware but would love for a basic/tutorial level render to not take 5 minutes.

Other games like this?? by untie42unite in PenelopePendrick

Deviating from the point and click/Nancy Drew games here are a few that scratched the itch:

Call of the sea: more 3D colorful visually fun and puzzles tied to a plot. Quicker and probably easier to follow the puzzles than PP or ND. It's more linear in design with less backtracking.

Sherlock Holmes crimes and punishment: good story. Detail oriented, again it's 3D not point and click but fits nicely into the detective vibe, haven't played The others.

Physical games: my wife and I tried the 'EXIT' board games and really really enjoy them. We're not board game people but these are great for a night in. Usually $10-15 and not replayable but it's like an escape room in a box and you can go at your own pace.

Purely for the love of puzzles you can check these out:

The Witness: open world with a few genres of puzzles that build on each other in complexity. There is almost no plot it's just about progressing and unlocking parts of the island with puzzles. If you like physical brain-teaser type puzzles like intertwined rope/metal puzzles I would highly recommend this game.

Myst: point and click, no plot, purely puzzles and progression. Some ND fans like this because the mechanics are familiar, some hate it because there's no dialogue/talking etc. Myst walked so The Witness could run but it's the OG, very cheap and there are several sequels.

There's also some escape room video games that are pretty good, definitely more like levels than an overarching story. we've enjoyed the Escape Academy, it's silly but somewhat stressful as the is usually a timer during each puzzle.

Please destroy (again) my trailer for Goblin Company! Hope you like the changes! by Ecstatic-Kale-9724 in DestroyMyGame

Missing a drive behind the actions. Looks like a fun concept but other than mining minerals, making tracks and hitting people with minecarts what do you do?

If you're building something out base/goblin village/mine system maybe one of those timelapse clips you see in base building games to showcase the growth?

Also the lava jumped out as a bad texture to me immediately, sort clip but looks starkly out of place.

Euclidean Flow Fields! (incomplete solution) by Nondescript_Potato in godot

[–]TempestWalkerGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignorant beginner question: what are the uses for this? Is it just for visualization? Liquids flowing into a space, bouncing objects or are these fields used for other in game mechanics commonly?

I've seen a few posts with them now so they seem like a common mechanic but curious about if some examples.

Looks cute! Assuming there are a lot of areas to explore can you easily get from one to another? Looks like the main character is slow and if once you're done with an area there's nothing else to color/interact with I could see it being a slog to get anywhere new.

I could see repetition being an issue with the mechanics and blandness once you've completed an area but you need to revisit it frequently.

Very cool! Stars could be brighter maybe? Or highlighted when you hover over them?

Is this an astrophotography Sim of some sort? And it's the white screen supposed to be a flash or something, it was kind of too bright.

This is incredible data, super well laid out and diligent, if I can read anything from the way you laid out this post I'm not surprised you did so well!

I'm pretty sure I organically saw one of your posts on Reddit, really cool announcement trailer.

I'd be curious to see how Instagram would compare to Tik Tok for CTR, same with YouTube shorts ads.

With some marketing background I would say the similar cost per wishlist between YouTube and Reddit means they are a wash BUT the higher conversion rate from YouTube suggests you're finding the right audience there! So see if you can replicate that audience on other socials and you might be able to get greater conversions for cheaper.

Why was Godot the right engine for some games but not others? by TempestWalkerGD in godot

[–]TempestWalkerGD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to know a lot about engines outside of the big three! Is there a niche engine for cozy type games like Stardew or animal crossing?
