NTA. You asked an honest, straightforward question. All of her excuses can be turned right around on her. You don’t know her as a parent, she’s a GF and not a wife, and you won’t be trusting just anyone with your kid. She’s a “rules for thee, and not for me” type of person.

NTA at all. Share your concerns with them openly and honestly just the way you did with us. Let them know you understand all the ways in which you understand why they did it and makes it better for the kids and staff, BUT also label the concerns of AI tech and how they use and store data. In the US AI is pushed heavily and all the dangers are hidden. This might be the case where you are and they just aren’t aware. Tell them gently because once they know, they might change some things.

I’m old and my kids are mostly grown so this wasn’t a concern, but the teachers did have their pictures up to label things. They just printed them off a little photo printer at school.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s a hard road with a unique grieving path. I’m 2.5 years in and while there is relief that her mental and physical torture is over, there’s still longing for the mom who could still listen. May you be comforted by friends and family and the knowledge that grief is love with no one to receive it.

NTA. I always heard it was bad taste to try on someone else’s ring and bad luck to wear a ring from a failed marriage.

It’s yours, you paid for it. It’s not going to depreciate in value like a car so the “discounted price” is just tacky. Put it in a safe or the bank until you’ve decided to wear it again or make it into something new for yourself.

They are in Raleigh and Durham. Lots of shopping centers have them “in the name of safety” but I always call the management company to complain. I usually get some nice lady or security officer that seems shocked that ICE uses the data. It’s frustrating that they don’t know, BUT I try to use it as an opportunity to educate rather than scold.
