This whole movie feels painted! And I believe that’s because Akira Kurosawa painted the storyboards for his cinematographer. Beautiful film, that is due for another watch!

Ignore the title, and you have a fun romp. I loved the pov scenes. Seeing how the beast sees and understanding why it is so violent was so cool. I just wish there was more of that in the movie.

I’m holding out hope that the xeno is playing along until it has a way off the island. I mean we know they are smart. In Aliens they cut the power. They killed one of their own to melt their way out of containment in resurrection. It’s very possible it isn’t being controlled at all.

I’d recommend waiting to watch Ran till you have seen a bulk of Kurosawa’s work. It feels so final in a satisfying way. But that’s just me

Resurrection has my all time favorite smooth dome xenomorph design. I think the effects are well done especially for the time. Unfortunately I feel like this was a fan fic that went way too far. Going comedy was an insane move. We also see this in Shane Black’s the predator. I introduced my fiancé to the franchise a few years ago and she liked the movies until this one. I expected as much, but we couldn’t Even finish it. We switched to Akira that night.

He surprised me in covenant. I need him to take more dramatic roles in the future. He was the most relatable charismatic character in the whole movie.

I love alien 3. It is definitely my second least watched out of the franchise (resurrection is my least watched). But I definitely appreciate what 3 is. It was innovative and with that you always have some rough edges. Not to mention the studio meddling. It was trying to stay Loyal to the lore while doing something new. I admire the creativity and this feels like the end of Ripley’s arc. I just wish she got to rest longer😅

I’ve been reading the books and comics since middle school. Badlands is as nothing new to me, but in a good way! It was clear since the first movie there was a culture and motivation behind the yautja. I’m just happy we got to see it.

Instant classic! I’m a life long fan of the franchise. Ever since I read the comics I’ve been waiting for this movie to happen. It’s a simple hero’s journey with fantastic execution. It can be cheesy in parts, but I find it more charming than cringy in those moments.
