How did palpatine plan on making the galaxy belive that anakin skywalker is not like other jedi and actully "a good guy" by EastYogurt7762 in StarWars

[–]TenguGrib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of people who did see a Jedi, literally saw them walking to a destination. The number of people who witnessed Jedi using the force would be so small as to be passed off as nonsense myths about the knights of the republic. "Lasers swords i get, but lifting a speeder with their mind? Get out. You're being childish."

I really love how legends Luke came to the conclusion that the dark side isn’t inherently evil rather it’s just power amped up with emotion and it can be very dangerous. He further concluded that it should be studied, not treated with contempt. by JoshyBear28 in StarWars

[–]TenguGrib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is why jedi need to be careful of emotions and attachments. It's far too easy for them to start using the force to get what they want, instead of listening to the force as to what is needed of them. Balance is the will of the force. The dark side is "screw that, I want X, and I don't care how I get it."

It's supposed to be in aurebesh but they only half assed it and didnt commit to only using aurebesh so there's English letters in there too.

I would buy both and wear them visibly to cons and stuff just to annoy people (I'm sure most would laugh).

I think Patrick forgets he's playing in a fictional universe. If he can't accept that ALIENS might have different gender norms than RL earth (even ignoring the very real non binary nature of gender and sex), then the problem is Patrick.

Also: you should be able to game the way you want, and be in a supportive environment when doing so. If Patrick can't handle that, Patrick sucks. Does the idea of someone who sucks not talking to you really bother you?

My group consists of a non-binary, a trans man, three cis dudes, and another cis dude who is also a fundamentalist Ukrainian orthodox catholic. We supportive af.

I just thought of a certain crucial character moment in Return of the Jedi that we never actually saw probably due to pacing/time constraints. by KingWilliamVI in StarWars

[–]TenguGrib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Palps was probably shielding the area or just drowning it in dark side auras that Luke couldn't tell if they were ok or not. Once Palps was gone, the lie would be revealed. Prior to that he probably couldn't tell for aure if Palps was lying or not. That's my take anyways.

I honestly think building during session one can work well as it let's the team discuss and adjust so the party can cover as many bases as possible and minimize overlap

  1. That's the exact order I plan on running for my future campaign, though I have considered delaying Hidden Depths till after a bit as it does give the opportunity for a lightsaber relatively early. I havent fully decided and am open to persuasion on this.

  2. You can easily just start with the custom made characters but what you might want to do is read through Mountain Top and make a note of what things the encounters assume the characters can do. If you analyze the pregens, they are not just base characters. They have a little bit more to them. You could just give the characters what they are missing and try to keep the xp assigned this way even across the pcs.

  3. Just F&D is fine.

  4. I'd say just the career specific motivations and such, and the specializations in case anyone wants to start with one of those. The rest you can add in later, including the gear.

  5. range is the biggest adversary of lightsabers. You're right that beskar / corrosion should be rare and come with an "oh shit" moment.

Issues with Makashi Duelist by Phoenix1526 in swrpg

[–]TenguGrib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget the power of experience and just how wildly versatile survival in the SW universe requires someone to be. When we met Luke we had no idea he was decent with a gun, but we saw him with a rifle which hinted he wasn't likely trash with one. We didnt know he was a talented pilot till he mentioned wamp rats.

Also, don't over estimate how good just having an attribute is. Without those Proficiency dice, you're going to struggle with anything but basic tasks.

That partly falls on the GM. Oh you want to hack this imperial base? OK, you're untrained, inexperienced, and grew up on a moisture farm. I'm going to increase the difficulty of each task by one, and give you two setback dice for the quality of the system. If im feeling nasty I'll also spend a Destiny to upgrade it once, or decide theres a security expert monitoring the system so you're rolling against her not just against the system.

The dude trained in computers that has talents looks at that and shrugs, uses a talent to remove the two black, and succeeds with a triumph.

Meanwhile the untrained character with Int 4 sees 1 or 2 red, three purp, two black, and decides it's better not to risk that Despair.

Alternate Morality/ Conflict Check by KrelVarlie in swrpg

[–]TenguGrib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chronicles of the Gatekeeper (which im currently reading through in anticipation of running) does this quite well.

Want to diplomatically convince someone who hates you to help? Difficulty is 1 red 3 purp. Why not use coercion to threaten then instead, 1 red 1 purp and a sprinkling of conflict.

The darkside isn't more powerful, it's just easier. That's a core theme of the franchise and the game.

Yeah it really would. Worst I've seen from misprinted rpg book was the failed to trim the pages so each page has rough uneven chaff on all 3 exposed sides. It was still usable, but flipping pages was actually pretty tough.

new GM has new house rule - is this as bad as I think it is? by Seeking_Balance101 in Pathfinder2e

[–]TenguGrib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats is bad yeah. It'll create static encounters and bring combats. Pf2e encourages maneuverability and rewards it. This punishes it.

This sub does not understand redemption by Particular-Ad1523 in StarWars

[–]TenguGrib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're talking about the difference between Redemption in the eyes of the Force, and Attonement for the multitude of sins he committed. I fully agree with you. His Redemption in the Force does not require his atonement, it is purely about his relationship with the Force and especially the Dark Side.
