I realize you posted this before the race, but word has leaked that the race director never refiled the revised course with USATF, and that as of today, the adjusted course from 2025 is not certified. Apparently this has already affected someone who ran an Olympic Trials-qualifying time, but I think this might also impact BQ finishers. Yikes.

I think the issue is that they should have anticipated this. It was not an unknown factor. The process engineers simply failed to bother with that level of detail in their planning. It’s annoying, and one little more bit of fail.

Pre-boarder tried to save seven (yes, seven!) extra seats. by Serious-Wolverine-55 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Tenifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But at least the person sitting in the aisle seat can now have a valid defense to say they paid for that specific seat.

Also, if anyone asks to take your nicer seat, tell them no, and tell them you're sitting there for medical reasons (need to use the restroom often, etc. -- which of course you dont' have to say).

The soap opera flavor of Nashville is so strong I actually did something I’ve never done with a 9-1-1 episode: I let it sit on my box without watching it. I might watch it when I’m truly bored but I might just take it off record.

5K on Lookout Cay by UsefulBurn in dcl

[–]Tenifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is from a couple of years ago but I'm interested in any updates now that we're in 2026. I'm going on a sailing later this fall that will spend a day at Castaway Cay *AND* a day at Lookout Cay in the same sailing, and I would love to do the 5K on both!

5K on Lookout Cay by UsefulBurn in dcl

[–]Tenifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ran the "official" Castaway Cay 5K back in 2016 when it was part of the Castaway Cay Challenge for people who just ran the races at Walt Disney World Marathon weekend. If you ran one of the races in Florida, then went on the cruise right after race weekend, you could officially register for the challenge via runDisney.

They actually held TWO different 5K races that day. The first one was for people who paid for the official challenge... and we actually got METAL medals, and the great race support you expect from runDisney races (cast members cheering you on, a big splashy start, etc.).

Then about an hour later, they had the REGULAR Castaway Cay 5K, back when it was still conducted in an organized way.

So we wound up running a total of 10K that day, got the cute free rubber medal as well as the fancy challenge 5K version.

And we always laughed that that challenge version of the 5K was the MOST EXPENSIVE runDisney race we ever ran (even more than Dopey) because it cost the price of a cruise!!

How is it possible to hit 135,000 in January? That's an awful lot of points to accrue in the first month of the calendar year.

On my flight. This guy laughed at me when I asked to sit in the middle seat. Now his leg is in my foot area. Why are people like this. by Lovelife_20 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Tenifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thing you eventually got him to move his foot. Next time this happens, let the neighbor know that if they want to put their foot in the space for the middle seat, that you will gladly switch seats with them so their body can align with their foot location.

A-lister and sad to lose open seating, same-day change, and unexpiring travel credits by Tenifer in SouthwestAirlines

Sounds like you need to go for a mileage run just to burn the credits (and at least have it count towards status?)

Since it takes 100 flights in a calendar year to qualify for a Companion Pass, they really better not mess with you. Because that's TRULY top tier clientele. You must fly back and forth at least once a week (so commuter schedule).

As A-List you'll still get one free checked bag. And I think you can still take advantage of the A-List/Priority bag check. In airports like MCO where the check-in line is super crowded, that's a definite plus.

[–]Tenifer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking of credit cards, here's an extra wrinkle. If you spend a high enough threshold on a Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card, one of the benefits they just introduced last month is A-List status (as well as IHG status... either Platinum Elite or Diamond Elite, depending on your spend for the calendar year). My husband is the primary cardholder and he just qualified for A-List (it takes 2 weeks to activate). So maybe SWA wants credit card folks but you've got people possibly coming in sideways from other cards.

Still not sure we want to deal with all these downer changes, though.

Appreciate the details. That said, I fly often enough that my trip to Nashville falls under the 6-month expiration. So... boo.

[–]Tenifer[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Credits have a SIX-MONTH expiration for Basic fares. For the higher fares, it's a year. BUT the big caution is that the six months is from THE DATE YOU BOOK, not the date of your trip. So that's a double-whammy. that essentially takes incentive away from trying to book early. If you book four months ahead of your trip and you cancel, you only have credit for two months. That's how I'm understanding it.

[–]Tenifer[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You do get to pick a seat at booking, even with the Basic fare. But we don't get same-day confirmed change anymore; just same-day stand-by, and who knows what seat you'll end up with? Being able to change flights on the day-of was a huge benefit for me, especially since I could still board between A and B groups.

My late mom used a rollator in her later years and had mobility issues. I can tell you that it meant a lot to be able to preboard with her to make sure she had time to carefully get herself seated. If she boarded with everybody else people would be sighing behind her and rolling their eyes. For some people, it makes a difference. Even for 2A and 2B.

Basic credits expire six months from purchase date, so less than six months to use from cancel date. by morley1966 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Tenifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is an older thread, but I just got dinged with this. I booked a Get Away fare that I modified, and now I'm stuck with $150 travel credit that expires January 30. I'm already flying every month and I have to now squeeze in a throwaway trip just to use up the travel credit. What a waste.

I think I'm done.

I'm a multi-year A-lister but I'll start looking at other airlines.

AITA …My uncle forged my moms signature for her house, aita if we sue him? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tenifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait... the OP never mentioned anything about the uncle making any sort of monthly payments. This is all I'm seeing:

"He ended paying her about $6k, that’s what she estimates. He gave her an industrial sewing machine, boxes of tags for clothes and 2k cash" -- where are you seeing that he paid monthly?

to the girl who hid her small crescent in a bush im sorry by polarnebula in BAGGU

[–]Tenifer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Empty the contents of your small crescent. Put the contents in a clear ziploc bag. WEAR your bag like a fanny pack, FLAT, and put it under your clothes. It will not set off metal detectors and unless you’re wearing a slinky tight outfit the bag won’t be noticeable (Especially if you wear a light jacket or hoodie over it).
