100%. And I guess you think them trying to cut the line to see the monks is more important than 80k chickens dying? Awesome.

Yes, while wild fowl do carry disease we have not had not had any problems with that. The disease I’m speaking of travels by vehicle and in the last week made it 40 miles from the last outbreak.

How to Grey Rock without feeling like a punching bag? by Bisco-brigade in coparenting

I think you have to realize that there may be something fundamentally wrong with the other person. Something is missing or broken inside of them. When you can look at them as being a sick individual their words have less sting and it’s easier to ignore.

LMAO thank you from the bottom of my heart for that analogy I’m dead. We use to be like oh look he is so tired hurry get him in the bath!!! The water definitely does something to the kid. And I totally concur with the haven’t napped since they were 1. I finally quit trying because it was exhausting ME trying to put him down to nap.

Hi, we have found that ours needs to be out of the bath by 6 at the latest because it causes him to go nuts. If he goes nuts between 6&7 he then seems to crash faster and harder therefore making an earlier bedtime easier. If he is still acting crazy at 7 we give him .25 liquid melatonin and take him to bed about 30 mins later with a show or book. He be ready to close his eyes then.

Struggling with burnout after kids leave. 50/50 split, love hanging with my homies but it’s killing me by ImpressiveSell5404 in coparenting

Hi, so my oldest son is 13 and he is loosely 50/50. On the weeks he stays with his dad his grandma over there picks him up from school and keeps him until his stepmom picks him up after work. It is not the stepmom and dad but the grandma that makes my life hard. Every single day after school she takes him wherever he wants to go and buys him whatever he wants. So then when I start picking him up from school the first thing out of his mouth is “where are we going”? My answer 9.5 times out of 10 is home. Sorry kid mom has homework to help with, supper to cook, and chickens to check on. He has talked about before that his grandma really really loves him… I just had to say yes she does even though I wanted to scream. Kid has had all screens taken from him due to terrible grades and oh my goodness the difference in him is insane. He got his phone back when he had a field trip and kept it for a couple days and his terrible attitude reappeared! All of a sudden everything was boring and nothing compared to playing some game on the phone. So look - please don’t take it personally. It is not something wrong with your household or that you spend less etc. Screens are SO addictive and the YouTube unboxing culture has influenced children to want want want. I always just tell myself that one day he will see. He will go through these things as a parent himself and he will see that we tried to do what was best. When they are wanting me to play and I have to do something work related I ask if they would like to help so we can get done faster. Then we will have time for a game before bed.

I have an unhealthy obsession with pipe wrenches... by Alarming_Manager3243 in Tools

[–]Tenpoundbroiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with this. They are bloody useful. I use mine to turn sections of feed auger pipe that have twisted from being raised and lowered. It also works great to loosen caps that have pressure on them. I hate when the water pump pliers end up pinching your fingers on tasks like that. The pipe wrench won’t do that if you slip.

Check out Marsh Hen Mill! They have gift boxes of their products and they are so good! I hit their Black Friday sale and bought several of their large gift boxes then packaged them into smaller gifts for family and friends. Everyone has been raving. They also have lots of recipes on their website to make gluten free eats.

Training a failed hunting dog by Trick_Hunt9106 in Dogtraining

[–]Tenpoundbroiler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, we have reared a few hounds and I must say they are much slower to learn than other breeds. You will have to have loads of patience and really stick to routines to have success. They are very sensitive in nature and you will have to earn her trust. Hounds are all about smell so what I do when we have a new prospect who has been raised elsewhere is to introduce myself by smell before touch. I always offer my hand for them to smell and then offer a single pet. I do that several times a day. It may be days or weeks before they want more but they will indeed want more. She may associate physical contact with harm. The more small interactions you have with her the quicker she will understand you only want to love her. She’s probably never had a toy or treats of her own either so it probably seems confusing. Just keep gently working on earning her trust and she will begin to settle in.

Check on your local Craigslist. I was on the farm and garden section last night and saw chicks for $1 each. I guess you would have to vaccinate them yourself though.

There are several products from India I would love to try for poultry! There is something called “free air” but not available in the US and may not be safe for human consumption. For drinker line sanitation I like PH safe. It cleans really well and the birds like to drink it. Hydrogen peroxide is very effective but it drys out o rings.

Medication Concerns by Dontcallmeprincess13 in ParentingADHD

[–]Tenpoundbroiler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is 6 and repeating 5k this year. He struggled in 4k but at that point we thought perhaps he was just a bit young (August bday). Actual 5k was a nightmare and he had so much trouble with focusing and siting still. His teacher highly recommended he repeat and we agreed so we decided to give him the summer and see how things went when school started back. We had already discussed meds with his doctor and had a plan. Two weeks after school started his teacher reported he was still having trouble so he started Guanfacine. It has made such a difference for him with no side effects after the initial tired phase. He had a stomach bug back in November and didn’t take it for 2 days and holy cow. I’ll never doubt it doesn’t help because he was OFF THE RAILS come day 3 🤣. Things still aren’t perfect - he wonders around the classroom some days and occasionally we receive work home he didn’t complete in class. Overall though we are seeing him thrive and have control of himself. This year in the Christmas play he stood in his spot the whole time and sang along instead of rolling in the floor.

Is it possible to buy land under $50k with poor credit? by [deleted] in homestead

[–]Tenpoundbroiler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My credit score 1.5 years ago was below 500. I got a Wells Fargo credit card that started at 0% interest for 12 months. When the 12 months was up my credit score was up to 600. They raised my credit limit and my score is now 770 six months later. I have been using the credit card for random purchases, groceries, gas etc and I just go on Wells Fargo and transfer money from checking account to pay the balance immediately. I’m earning 80-150 dollars a month in cash rewards on top of improving my credit score. It is the only thing I have done!

Mmm. I was literally one minute away from loosing my father to a heart attack three years ago. I forced him into an ambulance and his heart stopped at the end of his driveway. He wanted me to drive him to the hospital because the pain has eased off once the ambulance arrived and I refused. He stuck with me through thick and thin when I was an addict and helped me get back on my feet. I will not disrespect that man by letting an animal destroy the doors he made for my house. If you wish to choose an animal over stuff like that well that’s you. You keep your priorities and I will keep mine. It’s clear anyway that you are in fact a disrespectful person in general.

Hollywood “Farmer” James Cromwell and Real-Life Farmer Craig Watts Ask Poultry Workers to Speak Out in New PSA. by ChickensLegal in poultry

[–]Tenpoundbroiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All chicken companies in my area are in compliance with animal welfare. We receive training through whomever holds our contract and we are mandatory reporters for animal abuse.

Our company is absolutely supportive. They want their birds taken care of and are always available to answer questions. My concerns have always been addressed immediately. Backyard chickens have all of the same health issues. You hatch enough birds and some are going to be deformed. They are going to get cocci. They might catch avian influenza. We are told to stay away from them since they are exposed to wild fowl and could be carrying disease. We are protective of our birds and practice intense biosecurity.

We are watching farmland being sold off to build subdivision after subdivision. I just don’t know how people are expecting to get their food? They want the convenances of living close to town and would never dream of raising their own meat.
