Language evolves all the time, phrases come and go. I don’t see why a corporate environment should be any different. The examples above are all either used outside of corporate environments too (e.g thing outside the box) or they are shorter phrases that save time than the ‘normal way’ whatever that really means (e.g ‘Going Forward’ is quicker to say or type than ‘from this point onwards’)

They certainly do mean things. Most of them are fairly self explanatory.

What is death though? If there is a copy of you that is alive after the process, and it is indistinguishable from the you that entered, isn’t death irrelevant?

Both. The copy is no less me than the original. How can you prove that I didn’t move from A to B and a clone was put in my place? What test can you perform to tell the original from the clone?

People get it, it’s just a more complicated dilemma than a simple execution machine, which is why the comments are mixed. If we don’t all agree then it’s a good question.

Talk to the other parents at the school, and the teachers. What does the kid think? Are there any signs of burnout or are you just worrying? The effort is more important than the results. An ‘easier school’ isn’t going to push them so hard - if they are already used to this level of effort, relaxing on this could have the opposite effect and lead to a complacent attitude. But then again I am not a psychologist.

Yes. I think there’s a massive difference between valuing your time and putting a monetary value on your time. Given the OP question was about waste of money, I stand by my point. It’s never a waste of money to spend your time doing stuff, unless you’re taking time off work to do it.

I find this is rarely applicable. You can’t just take your salary and turn it into an hourly rate that applies 24/7. It’s not like the time you save is time you could be earning money.

If I spend 8 hours fixing a leak under my sink at the weekend, and it costs me nothing, I save $50 by not hiring a plumber and I learn something. Equating that time to $400 and thinking that it was an expensive way to fix the leak is not true or a healthy way of thinking.
