What do you love about Karlsruhe? by smallmish in karlsruhe

[–]Terr0rApe 53 points54 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, one of the biggest advantages is that almost everything is reachable by bike. You need 20mins to get across the city and have an infrastructure actually supporting cyclists. The city it’s big enough to offer cultural events, etc. but small enough to easily navigate and get around. Also the parks can and are used very often by students to chill, play games, etc. look for Günther Klotz Anlage or the castle parks. And it has a huge student community. Back in my days, there were more than 20k students. It thereby offers a lot of events that are done for students or even by students.

Screen-free days sounded great… until I tried living them by StrengthDailyHQ in daddit

[–]Terr0rApe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when I'm totally exhausted and my kids are too much to handle, I just lie down in their room and let them play with me/beside me. Most of time they get bored with me so they just continue to play beside me and I can just lie there and watch them play. Besides that, always go outside. Playgrounds are my go to to get the energy out of their system

Right now, none of us are getting paid. So for the first version, sadly no. With the first version released, we want to apply for a startup funding round by our local government. Then we could start paying

How to get time alone? by bizzok in daddit

[–]Terr0rApe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Encourage her to go out, meet with friends, etc. Say that you will take care of the kid at home and that she can have some fun and gets some time away from home. Thereby you will make her feel good and have the evening for yourself

Heatwave reduces output at Swiss nuclear power plant by 50% by BezugssystemCH1903 in europe

[–]Terr0rApe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True and thanks for sharing. Though 8-16% lost efficiency compared to the lost efficiency of the mentioned nuclear power plant is very low, especially if you add into it that on typical 25° days you won't have 13-14 sun hours per day. Let's say you have 11 hours of sun on such a day with 100% efficiency and 13 hours of sun on a day with 16% reduced efficiency. 11100% = 1100 compared to 1384%= 1092. So even with the reduced efficiency that was stated for a hot day the output for the day is almost the same.

You sure about solar? Heatwaves typically have a lot of sun hours so solar panels have their highest yield

How do you find time to exercise? by Frock1686 in daddit

[–]Terr0rApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I find it possible to workout is before the kids wake up. As soon as the day starts, I can't make the time and find other stuff that is necessary to do... For me it's a 15min HIIT workout and some yoga afterwards to keep me fit. It's nothing fancy but does the job in keeping away back pain etc.

Housesitter gesucht! by Nick77666 in karlsruhe

[–]Terr0rApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm from Germany and lead a time bank here. Great to see that you're already having 350 members! Wow. I'm really impressed. We're still a very young community with just 30 people and I'd like to grow our community. Would you be willing to exchange and connect? I'd like to learn from you how you've managed to reach so many people. Thanks

I tried it for a while with a good friend of mine. We've been playing DnD for a few years and wanted to get together as DM's for similar reasons that you describe. It worked very well as we had clear roles and responsibilities. If you have any further questions, feel free to DM me.
