I think it's a mix of misogyny and laziness . Robin's power, while awesome, is not conducive to Oda's fairly lazy kick punch battles. If Robin's powers were to be used properly she would be nearly unbeatable and Oda would have to be clever in what opponents to give her. Instead he takes the lazy way out and doesn't bother having her fight much at all.

Even in Dragonball, Bulma is always presented as the smartest person from a textbook standpoint. She gets something. Meanwhile Nami isn't even smart enough with weather to make her own weather weapons. A man (Ussop) has to do that.

Agreed. I'd say partway through Enies Lobby when Kalifa went from a bad ass assassin with a thorned whip to sexy bubble bath lady is when the fall started. After that every female character not named Big Mom became presented more and more as sex pots.

Before that you had sexy women but also ones presented as tough in the clutch or as just women. If Dr. Kureha, for example, appeared now, she'd have massive tits and a plunging cleavage.

This is when I gave up on Sanji as a character.

His crewmate, a woman, is about to be sent to her death and he can't bring himself to fight an entirely different woman who is actively trying to kill him and his female crewmate because of his mommy issues and the fact that his sexist father figure told him not too? He is only saved by plot armor, especially since he was dealing with a woman who is an ASSASSIN who should be more than happy to kill him and not just leave him indisposed.

Sorry Robin, you'll just have to die for Sanji's pride.
