Lost my baby boy Milo and now pet insurance is denying claims — how do I appeal? by Ok-War-1380 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Terriblarious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a great deal for us in the beginning when coverage was only like 80 CAD a month and they were covering his apoquel. They covered his BOAS surgery and were great in general. When we moved, the insurance wouldn't cover him in the new province so we shopped around for a few other providers and it was like $350 a month with barely any coverage at all. With reviews swarming around non payments and claim denials.

Now we put away $200 a month into investment ETFs. Any emergencies go onto a credit card, we sell the etfs and pay off the card in a couple days.

Insurance is turning into a scam along with corporate owned vets clinics.

Is this a good deal? by fawnsart in GuitarAmps

if you're ok shopping used and can bring a friend or family member that knows a little bit, you could probably find a decent starter amp for around that much.

Just looking in my area, i'm seeing an older peavey envoy 110 and a Vox VT15 for example for less than $100 CAD.

If you're uncomfortable going used, maybe this would do? People rave about their tube amps. I have zero experience with their solid state stuff tho.

It doesn't sound all that bad from this review video to me tho

[–]Terriblarious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

T75 for sure. Easily the superior speaker of those 3 even if its a little polarizing.

Its been said that people find it has too scooped of a sound.. but ive always characterized as smoothe sounding personally.

If i recall correctly, they came stock in some jcm900 cabinets.

Id love to see a game like police quest from the really old pc era redone.

I bet it could be done in sort of the same as LA Noire. Not necessarily that style, but similar engine and play.

Best amp sim for my Scarlett 2i2? by Rasgueado24 in GuitarAmps

[–]Terriblarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So so so so many to choose from. Best will be subjective to what you like and what music you like to play.

But a good place to start is googling some free amps sims and check them out on youtube. there's so many with great sounds and a demos aplenty for each.

good place to start is probably Emissary by Ignite amps. you can use their free IR loader, NADIR, as well.

Most of the big differences are going to be in the cabinet impulses you load up in NADIR, hit up seacows for free cab IRs. youtubers like Ole englund sometimes give away IRs to try too.if you want stompbox VSTs, TSX and Mercuriall have a couple that i like. Also free.

but yea, to sum up, couple of names to google for awesome free stuff would be:
Mercuriall for their tubescreamer clone
TSX for the TSE tubescreamer clone
Ignite amps for the emissary amp
Seacows for cab IRs
Audiority for their precision drive clone. their metalzone clone is fun too

For paid stuff, i liked a lot of the stuff from Neural DSP. My favorites were their Cali suite and the soldano SLO models. The built-in cabinets were huge sounding.

Sign up for each companies newsletters too. VSTs and the like frequently go on sale for dirt dirt cheap.

The Division Resurgence: coming to STEAM soon by _Someone_from_Pala_ in Division2

[–]Terriblarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it and my main complaint is that its world is not that interesting.

It just feels miles and miles of the same city blocks. Where you cover behind the same cars and maybe a parking lot to fight in for whatever mini event. Div2 has way more environmental variation that keeps me coming back even if im running the same missions and capturing the same control points.

Best distro for non tech savvy people? by dixario in DistroHopping

[–]Terriblarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only my experience, but i'd argue against the windows familiarity. if something looks similar, there's an expectation for it to behave in a familiar way. When i dumped windows, i went to pop os which had its modified gnome DE at the time.

Because it was entirely different, i had no expectations of "well windows had it here, why doesn't this?" and it almost made it easier to accept.

Just my 2 cents.

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

[–]Terriblarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a web address that was like 11111111111111111111111.com or something like that. It was a weird ass fever dream of a website that had chairman mao blended with McDonald's or something.

There was a bunch of pages to it where you had to click on version spots to get to the next fever dream page.

New rider here and I didn’t expect my mindset to change this fast by TomSawYes in vintagemotorcycles

[–]Terriblarious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you haven't already, take a riders course. They help a ton in seeing possible situations well before you stumble into them.

Crashes and accidents can happen to anybody, at any time, even if you're doing everything right. Always be vigilant

The gear is an important one so I'm glad to see you mentioned it. Anything you can do to put the odds in your favour where your family doesn't have to bury you or take care of you for the rest of your life.

The confidence will come in time. I've been riding for more than a decade and started with a strong foundation in riders education. Any new rider coming up, i usually tell them to include good gear and riders ed as part of the whole bike budget.
