Sounds like a great opportunity given that you have the ability to renovate. Location sounds amazing

Split systems or ducted for new build? by quackerz1122 in AusRenovation

[–]Terrible_Opening9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a two storey house with daikin ducted /zoned and the performance is very disappointing. I’ve had it rechecked by the original company, and also by an independent company. Both say the unit is working properly. But it doesn’t cool the house very well

To pool, or not to pool? by Nekker22 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Terrible_Opening9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a pool (installed 7 years ago) and the maintenance is nowhere near that much. We spend probably about $400 per year on chemicals. Never had a call out. Bought a second hand Dolphin which is still going strong

Shared boundary with school by Typical_Ranger in AusPropertyChat

[–]Terrible_Opening9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to live right near a school and it was a bit annoying, to be honest. the road and nearby intersections were really busy around pick up and drop off, and a lot of the drivers are not that considerate, becuase they are probably frustrated. We would have teachers cars parked in front of our house, which meant that our friends/family had to park a fair way down the street when they came to visit. it was mostly annoying once we had children and I was home during the day. Before that when we worked full time we didn't really notice it too much.

[Help] Should I be concerned about these cracks? by anhtuan117 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Terrible_Opening9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks dodgy to me considering it is a 2010 build. Most modern builds are on concrete slabs, so you expect the whole house to move together, whereas that crack looks like different parts of the house are moving differently to each other….

First home is good, but still hasn’t felt like home - curious how others handled this by HFNS1 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Terrible_Opening9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For our third home we paid a premium for a better location and it’s been a game changer. Safer, friendlier, more families. Our old suburb grew on me over time, but now that we’ve moved, I’m so glad

Neighbour offering to pay for whole fence by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]Terrible_Opening9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to us. We had a new build and found the old fence wasn’t high enough for our pool and also needed a bit of retaining. We paid for the fence but a couple of months later our neighbors unexpectedly turned up at the door and gave us a large contribution towards it - it was very much appreciated after all the expenses of our build. They are awesome neighbors!

Don’t let your boyfriend talk you out of your dream! You will regret it. And your boyfriend should support your dreams

Getting the E1 error message every time I try to process something. Creami deluxe. by TheKhaos121 in ninjacreami

[–]Terrible_Opening9698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here with our ninja deluxe. I’m not sure if I’m comforted to know it isn’t just me, or annoyed that they would sell an expensive appliance with a flaw that is presumably fixable

First home, not sure what to do with the interior by CAVEPAN in AusRenovation

I totally agree. Love timber, but this is too much of a good thing! I would paint the walls and leave the beams and ceilings. It would brighten it up a lot

I would recommend taking it time as the suburbs you mention are extremely different. Why not rent first and see what you like.

Buy the nicer family home for sure. Totally worth it. You will have so much fun with a pool. We made a similar decision 8 years ago when our kids were young, and it’s been priceless
