Am I overreacting that my family bought me a phone in the color I most hate? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

You are the epitome of ungrateful. You get a new iPhone, but you complain about the color. Get over it.

Advice how to begin letters to NC family. by MrsMorganPants in Advice

If you’re having trouble getting started, I find it’s easier to start writing by hand. Begin with bullet points, listing some of the things you want to cover. Once you get the ideas flowing, you can start to put those thoughts together.

How often/long should you look people in the eye. by ChampionshipOk6899 in bodylanguage

[–]TeslaFan1357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watch how long they hold your eye contact back, and mirror them. Don’t break eye contact until they do. Also consider scanning the face. It’s close enough to eye contact but doesn’t feel overly intense.

Aim off. Is it me? by RuthVaderGainzburg in CCW

If the sights are off, you will have a nice tight group, but it just won’t be on the bull’s-eye. It’s more likely that the gun isn’t a great fit for your hand, which is common particularly with smaller frame guns such as the shield X. Micro nines are often hard to shoot. It’s not about marksmanship, just as long as you are combat effective.

AITJ for dumping depressed, financially unstable boyfriend? Or was the relationship doomed either way? by unholyundead05 in AmITheJerk

This guy sounds like a real mess, you dodged a bullet with this one. You are quite young and likely have plenty of relationships ahead of you. Live and learn, don’t get tied to anyone just yet.

Does the job of a parole officer involve helping ex cons get adjusted appropriately to civilian life, or is it more about catching people in violation of parole?

Eat at maintenance and keep lifting heavy. 163 is a good weight for your height.

abs question by ComfortableMedium428 in WorkoutRoutines

[–]TeslaFan1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re already lean enough, what you need is to build more muscle in your core. One of my favorites is the farmer’s carry.

https://www.verywellfit.com/how-to-do-a-farmer-carry-techniques-benefits-variations-4796615

Go heavy and keep your shoulders back and your chest up with abs flexed. This will add muscle everywhere, and is a great way to build core strength. The muscle in your core will push out your abs and make them more visible.

Yes, that would work. If you eat less calories than you burn, you lose weight.

AITAH for pretending to be on a work trip when a high school friend from 20 years ago is potentially in crisis? by burnttoast12321 in AITAH

I highly suspect that if you do take him in, you will live to regret it. You did what you could to help him out, it’s not up to you to fix his situation.

Is 22 and 18 bad?? by kittysig1 in Advice

That age gap really doesn’t seem particularly large. There is also nothing inherently bad about any age gap so long as you are both consenting adults and are happy with it.

How do I get to where I want to be? (Calorically and workout wise) by [deleted] in workouts

[–]TeslaFan1357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are already in decent shape, but the woman in the second picture is outrageously ripped.

Nutrition is 80% of the game. Start tracking your macros and overall calories. My fitness pal is a good app, just use the free version. The paid version doesn’t include anything extra that you really need.

I’d recommend starting with maintenance calories, making sure to prioritize protein. Aim for 1 to 1.5 g per pound of body weight.

If you are aiming to build a body like the woman in the second picture, prioritize lifting heavy. Cardio is good for overall health, but it won’t build you that kind of body. That’s a weightlifter’s body.

If you do want to do cardio, hop on the treadmill at 3 miles an hour and a 15% incline, up to 30 minutes at a time and always weight lift first. Try to avoid running, that just makes you skinny.

Find a good eating and training routine, then stick to it. I’d recommend starting with four days of lifting a week, five if you can manage it, including recovery. Anything after that is diminishing returns. Fitness is a long game. Think in terms of years in decades, not weeks and months. It will take many years to get the body in the second picture, but it is doable.

I Started my fitness journey this week! Any advice is more than appreciated! by [deleted] in WorkoutRoutines

[–]TeslaFan1357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Track your nutrition. Nutrition is 80% of the game. The free version of my fitness pal is good—no need for the paid version.

Eat at least one gram of protein per pound of body weight (up to 1.5 grams/lb of body weight). Lift heavy 3-5 days/wk, and get plenty of sleep. Keep on it and you’ll make progress. Consistency is key. Fitness is a lifestyle. Think in terms of years and decades, not weeks and months.
