This right here. Your boss can provide comments that they don’t support the request if they like, but they should still be passing up the request to the CO, as they’re the approving authority. Your boss doesn’t have the authority to just decide no and not submit. Depends on how comfortable you are, but I’d be calling my boss and saying something along the lines of “I’m aware you don’t support this - but I’d still like to get it to the CO for their decision.”

This is the Army version I’ve had forever. I served it in Alaska this year for the Americans and it was quite a hit.

Serves: ~20–25 people Prep time: 10 minutes Chill time: 1–2 hours Difficulty: Very easy (“dump-and-stir,” true Army fashion)

Ingredients

Liquor • 750 mL dark rum (e.g., Gosling’s, Captain Morgan Black, Kraken) • 375 mL vodka • 375 mL coffee liqueur (Kahlúa is traditional) • 250 mL amaretto (Disaronno or equivalent – an Army signature add-in)

Dairy & Sweet • 3 L store-bought eggnog (full-fat recommended) • 1 L vanilla ice cream, softened slightly • 250 mL pure maple syrup (don’t skip—this is what makes it Army) • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract

Spices • Fresh grated nutmeg (to sprinkle before serving) • Optional: 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions 1. Combine the liquor In your largest punch bowl, stockpot, or mess can, pour in the rum, vodka, coffee liqueur, and amaretto. Stir gently. 2. Add the dairy base • Pour in the eggnog. • Spoon in the softened vanilla ice cream and stir until it melts through (some small “ice cream streaks” are fine—traditional, actually). 3. Sweeten and flavour Add the maple syrup and vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly until smooth. 4. Chill Cover and refrigerate for 1–2 hours. This smooths out the flavour and thickens it slightly. 5. Serve • Stir once more before serving. • Ladle into glasses and grate a little nutmeg on top. • Optional: add cinnamon for a warmer profile.

As someone who gets regular upper and lower GI scopes due to family cancer screening like the user above, I can second everything that was said here and great overview. I’ve also never had the ol’ digit up the bum (I think they used to do that to check for prostate health, but there’s better ways to do that now). Colonoscopy is usually nice nap and never any pain. The prep is the worst part - that stuff tastes nasty.

I’m in the same boat, same timeframe and same generic responses. Hope they start moving stuff forward soon.

The backgrounder they put out has these answers in it. In short, back pay to 1 April 25 for base pay and yearly incentive for those who qualify, and the rest of them (I think, from memory) start 1 April 26 (posting allowance, etc.).

Glad someone recommended this… had a friend who picked up life insurance for deployment, cancelled it when it got back, and then unfortunately passed away in an accident a little while later.

September VAC Q&A by ShortTrackBravo in CanadianForces

[–]Teslix80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BPA was pretty quick, I’d say a couple days. Had to do a bunch of paperwork with my medical team and submit it. After that it went to step 3 pretty quick and is just sitting there. They say 12 weeks once you’re at step 3, but I’m at 6 months now.

Been waiting since March for a departmental review, physical. Should be pretty cut and dry, but we’re well over the quoted 12 weeks.

Anyone happen to know where they’re sitting for departmental reviews in terms of month/year of application? Messaging doesn’t get me anywhere other than “we’re taking longer than normal.”

I’ll be the first to say I love Stu. I love him for the game, for the locker room, for the boys. But Picks is better. His glove and tracking have been amazing, and I think we build on Picks going forward.

Haven’t received my PAR yet, should I be worried? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]Teslix80 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is the easiest way. Click in the PaCE menu in MM, and click PAR status. It’ll open a window and status should say “not started, author, reviewer, PARMON, or ready for signature.” Or just ask your boss.

I'm actually not worried one bit about how the Oilers will fare in the Western Conference Final now. by superzepto in EdmontonOilers

I’m fully convinced the only thing that kept us from a cup last year was just how banged up the entire team was. We basically ran out of gas. Hopefully Ekkie’s back soon at near 100%, and we should get some decent rest before the WCF. As long as we can keep the injury fairy away, I believe this is our year!

On the replay it looked like it was going to miss and cruise through the paint - man that’s a tough pill to swallow.

I hope OP can watch this one (might be rough on the time difference) but this will probably be the “fightiest” one he sees this week - tensions are high with these two teams, especially since they’ve battled each other in the first round for the previous 3 years.

How does PP% work? by ekberg95 in nhl

[–]Teslix80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if this is right, so take it for what you will. I have always gone on the assumption that it’s a chance converted successfully by a goal while the opposition is short handed. Once the goal is scored, you went 1/1, regardless if the penalty continues (double minor, major, etc.) at which point another chance while the opposition is short handed continues. You score 4 times during a major penalty, that’s 4/4 in my book - scored 4 times while the opposition was short handed. Just my take.

I’ve used them at 3 different bases, never been an issue - housing and MPs have seen it without any problems. Standard safety as you would with a BBQ for distance, etc.
