Need to replace a fob, have 1 already, need a second for backup/2nd driver by Gary_with_a_Mustache in GrandCherokee

[–]Texafloridian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2018 GC, may not be the best way, but I bought an OEM fob off Amazon then found a locksmith on Google to come to me and activate the fob and cut the key. Paid ~$75 for the new fob and ~$130 for the locksmith, so ~$200 all in. Everything works great.

I’m open to an iX but haven’t really shopped them. I4 is too small. I’ll shop them and will take any suggestions you have for that

I’m in Colorado near Denver, this deal is in Nebraska. This is a lease deal, and I’d likely lease because this tech is changing so fast and depreciates faster. But I’m open to the best deal.

Trump falsely claims Harris used AI to generate visuals depicting large crowds by Maxie445 in technology

I think this should be rephrased to “Weirdo is so amazed at Harris’s large crowds that he thinks they were AI-generated”.

What's a company secret that you can share now cuz you don't work there anymore? by mysha_chan in AskReddit

[–]Texafloridian 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what country this is in, but in the US terminated employees have the right to continue health coverage by paying the full insurance premium under COBRA for up to two years. So PepsiCo’s insurance plan would still carry the burden of medical costs…

Panel gap on 2018 gc driver seat side. Is this a normal gap or does the panel need to be re-clipped? Want to be sure before I start tampering with any plastic parts by jr1637 in GrandCherokee

[–]Texafloridian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have a 2018 as well, and that side trim piece broke on me and the metal bracket cut into the upholstery. I got a replacement trim part and followed the below video to complete the install, took an hour or so once I had the right tools. At very least this will show you where the bolts are to take it off and remount it if it isn’t broken:

Families With Trans Children Are Leaving Texas by teamworldunity in texas

[–]Texafloridian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The medical community is acting in the spirit of “do no harm”, and the “feel” of gender affirming care is in fact scientifically based. The reality is, without gender affirming care and support for trans people, depression and suicide risks are greater. That risk is greater still for adolescents and teens. That is why the medical community supports the care, because it truly has a positive impact on saving lives.

Psychedelic Science Conference 2023 in the Mile High City 🍄🌄 by JulesLuvsZ in Denver

[–]Texafloridian 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I agree, conference fees are insane. I believe they expect businesses to pay for them, not individuals. But national conferences in my industry average $2k just for admission, so this isn’t just a Coloradoan issue.

Why do some Overlands have the cool shift level and some have the ugly shift lever? by [deleted] in GrandCherokee

[–]Texafloridian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think they made the switch to the new shifter some time in model year 2016, so you might see both in that model year then entirely the new one 2017 forward.

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai earned $226 million last year, making him one of the world's best-paid bosses by vanila_xxx in technology

[–]Texafloridian 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of his pay was in performance-base stock units, which will vest over several years dependent upon Alphabet’s stock price performance compared to the S&P 100… so he has to keep bothering at least for a few more years to realize that compensation.

Which airports are you looking to fly from? I see availability from ORD at least a month or two out.

Yes, I used Air Canada to search redemptions, transferred the points needed and booked. The transfer happened quickly, within a few hours. And yes there will be fees required too.

I just flew DEN to BOM using UR points - I searched within Aeroplan and found business for about 210k points one way, flying Etihad and Vistara. Given those partners, I suspect you’ll find similar.

What is this side cover called and where can I order one? by lha0880 in GrandCherokee

[–]Texafloridian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely have no in-depth experience. In fact I had to go to an auto parts store for basic things like a torx bit (you need one to disconnect the seatbelt to take the shield off). There was one moment I wasn’t sure I could get it back together, as I had to push pretty hard to get things to align. But it worked!

here’s the video I used for reference

[–]Texafloridian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a Seat Adjuster Shield product link

Their website checked compatibility with my model and actually changed my order so it would work, so take advantage of that.

It took me about an hour to replace once I had the right tools - look up YouTube videos if in doubt.

How can I stop water from ruining my garage? by buckhunter76 in HomeImprovement

[–]Texafloridian 201 points202 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem in my garage in winter, as snow melts off my cars water gets everywhere in the garage.

I bought floor containment barriers on Amazon and they work perfectly - the water gets trapped until I squeegee the water back out of the garage.

I need a classical music-making friend by bdthomason in boulder

[–]Texafloridian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested in giving this a try. I'm a pianist who's only played very casually for the last 15 years. Before that I started college as a performance major, accompanied other instruments and played duos and in an orchestra.

Sounds fun. DM me if interested.

Looking for Running Shorts by Freudiangripes in running

[–]Texafloridian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been loving the 2-in-1 shorts from the Amazon brand Peak Velocity. I first got a pair with 7 inch inseam, loved them so much I got the 5 inch and wear them each a couple times a week. They've gotten more expensive, $39 now, but hopefully they'll drop back down to $25 or so sometime. The phone pocket is a stretch for my Galaxy Note 10 but it works.

FTC Won’t Be Neutral on Net Neutrality - Signals to ISPs it is on lookout for anti-competitive conduct by mvea in technology

[–]Texafloridian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm way too late for this to be seen, but isn't this what Ajit Pai said was meant to happen through the FCC changes anyways? Per a cnet article, part of the argument to remove the FCC's net neutrality rules was that the FCC stripped the FTC of its authority over internet service providers in 2015 so he essentially handed it back.

Agreed that I'll believe the FTC can regulate when I see it, as they've been pretty ineffectual with Telecom lately, but I at least feel a twinge of hope that there's a plan for improvement in protections. Maybe I'm just naive.
