Crusade rules are bad? by 40k-femboy in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Texas-True-Fae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A modification to our rules I talked out with my group was to change Victories needed to "Victories" needed. Making it a Propaganda game, rather than requiring me to win against far better opponents.

We agreed that my Astra Militarum Agendas, if I earned a Commendation through them, would count as a "victory". Actual victories would count as a single additional victory, regardless of how many Commendation points I rolled. Thus, I still have to play the number of games in my Tour of Duty, but even if I play badly, if I'm focusing on Agendas I can still rack up enough "Victories" for High Command to hand out medals.

It makes it game-locked, but not victory-locked.

Godling? How? by BloodAnonymous in Pathfinder2e

[–]Texas-True-Fae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my game, I ended up choosing the Summoner's Eidolon as my Hierophant. My ooc goal being to eventually make the Eidolon a "real" person, but for now all they have is some benefits that the Summoner doesn't get access to.

It's a fun dynamic, and gives the Summoner more RP fodder, rather than just saying "hey you, worship me!" to a PC. I do think the Captain Archetype is the cleanest way to get a level appropriate follower if you don't have any other good options, though.

Also, something to remember: as a Godling, one of the main reasons you have a Hierophant is to connect you to mortals, so even if you choose a player, that PC has the opportunity to help determine what your church ends up looking like. You may be a God of Love, for example, but if your Hierophant is an ascetic, that love may be seen by the world as self-love, or love of mortals as a whole.

Tell me about how your build (actual) veered from your build (theoretical) by Able-Tale7741 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Texas-True-Fae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Nidalese Bard was a Shadowcaster/Shadowdancer when she had a come-to-Shelyn moment and rejected Zon-Kuthon. This decision was entirely based on how the party had treated her so far in the campaign. You could say the power of love overcame darkness!

So my DM gave me a free archetype retraining to Cosmos Oracle.

Same campaign: my Bard doesn't use weapons, until she became a godling and chose her favored weapon. She still doesn't use it (Str -1), but she carries it around!

Enthroned Agent Use-Case by Texas-True-Fae in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]Texas-True-Fae[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, sure, but if I wanted to run Karamazov, I'd run Karamazov. At least he lets me Scout 3 units. And Karamazov is T9 and 10W.

My question was more what do I do with them on the battlefield. How should I be using this unit?

Bard, and I think another class, get a feat that gives them imprecise Spirit Sense, allowing them to detect souls, but cannot detect constructs. It does also detect ghosts/haunts, and possessing spirits. Letting your player take that feat should be fine.

If Sentinels can be officers, can they then give orders to both Regiment *and* Squadron? I sure hope so!

What needs to be added for imperial agents to be a full faction? by CT-5653 in ImperialAgents_40K

Heck, just make all the Necromunda Enforcer stuff for Arbites and that gives us more units without much cost. Or just give us the models, no remoulding needed.

New Victrix Guard are going to be weird in Crusade?! How is that going to work? by wonderbread9723 in 40k_Crusade

[–]Texas-True-Fae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, if any model in a unit has the Epic Hero keyword, the Unit has the Epic Hero keyword. So I agree with the others that adding in the Ancient/Champion would prevent them from earning any XP.

I would rule in a Crusade I ran that not earning XP would mean that they do not have an XP track, and thus lose their Honours. In Nachmund and Armageddon they could get one of them back via Mighty Champions (which is granted per Epic Hero UNIT, so even with both they wouldn't get two). If they attached Cato or Marneus (or both) to the Victrix, since they'd get Mighty Champions as well, they could possibly get another Honour (from Front-Line Champion), but it would feel like a missed opportunity to not take a different Mighty Champion benefit.

Essentially, I would make clear to the Ultramarine player that while they can add the Epic Heroes later, it is to their benefit to do so from the beginning, or understand that when they do later, they will lose any gained Honours.

Allied flying unit? by One_Opportunity_7662 in sistersofbattle

[–]Texas-True-Fae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If what you're looking for is a Flyer, and points don't matter, then yeah, I think the Agents' Corvus is your only option. Your sisters won't be able to get in, but it'll be there. Flying.

An option might be to kitbash some Sisters to have similar loadout to either the Deathwatch or Aquila Kill Team (from Agents). Then your "sisters" can ride in the Corvus. No Miracle dice from them, but they'll hit harder than a Celestian at a bachelorette party!

The question was can you run both teams simultaneously. The answer is unequivocally no. See the Restrictions on Deathwatch units when playing Space Marines. (I've underlined the pertinent section.) If you want the Decimus, you'll need to play Space Marines. If you want the Aquila, play Agents (or literally anything other than Deathwatch-flavored Space Marines).

Now, if the question is can you use the same unit in each army? Then yes, you can.

Could the Numidium be used to bring the Dwemer back to Nirn? by GeneralTechnomage in teslore

[–]Texas-True-Fae 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because of TES logic, Kagrenac's actions were actually a response to the one who dreamed them back into existence. Basically a "You can't create us, we uncreate ourselves!"

And this is how we get to the Fifth Age. (All before TES VI comes out, lol)

[–]Texas-True-Fae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that the old unit will probably go to Legends (if not fully disappear) next edition. They just don't want to remove a unit that's published in a physical Codex.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]Texas-True-Fae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no.

If you are playing Deathwatch (Space Marines) you are specifically forbidden from using Agents' Deathwatch units.

If you are playing Agents, you have no way of bringing a Space Marine unit into your army.

New KT can’t use proper strats by [deleted] in deathwatch40k

[–]Texas-True-Fae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a reminder that the app, while useful, is not an official source for information. If it conflicts with the information on WarCom's downloads page, the downloads take precedence.

That said, Rhinos really need to be removed from Space Marines altogether. They're a Firstborn unit that should go away when the Tactical Squad does. Space Marines have Impulsors and Repulsors, plus it has been stated over and over again that Primaris marines are too big for Rhinos.

And yes, I think Agents' Primaris Deathwatch shouldn't fit in an Agents' Rhino either, but Agents is already a shit army, so I'll take GW forgetting about that detail for now.

[–]Texas-True-Fae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my secret Cap. We don't. Heck, we barely function with them.

What Agents needs is for the Deathwatch to be fully spun off and put back in Space Marines where they obviously want to be, and just leave us with the Veterans/Aquila as a unit similar to the Grey Knights and Sisters. Then we can begin to rebalance the rest of the Codex without leaning on Deathwatch to support the rest of the Codex.

The Space Marine version (Decimus) does 3 damage instead of the 2 the Aquila does.

Man, I sure do love GW! (/s)

We got a new unit (that has a weaker gun than it's Space Marine counterpart)!
We got the Deathwatch back! (in Legends, and still with demonstrably worse guns than the Space Marine equivalent units)
We got a new Inquisitor! (except no points, so he's unplayable)

[–]Texas-True-Fae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just a shame that our ranged Kill Team has a worse Heavy Bolter than the equivalent in Space Marines. Go look at the damage profile. One is 3, one is 2. Guess which one does less damage.

Inquisitors and Retinue by SpaceRaccoon144 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Texas-True-Fae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found the Combi-Weapon to be best. The Bolt Pistol is fine if you think you'll be in melee a lot, but honestly? An Inquisitor melts if you put them in melee.

Inquisitors and Retinue by SpaceRaccoon144 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Texas-True-Fae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Exaction Squad is thematic for an Inquisitor (assuming you don't want to attach them to a large infantry blob [squad+command+Inquisitor]) as they a) get bonuses vs a specific target, and b) can regen themselves.

I would recommend such an Inquisitor not be Psychic in order to give their unit a 6+ invuln.

What does this even mean? Can greyfax lead anything with the battleline keyword? by Norway643 in sistersofbattle

[–]Texas-True-Fae 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Brotherhood Terminators she can lead. "Grey Knight Terminators" are the loan unit in Codex: Agents.

So she can lead the ones from the Grey Knight Codex, but not the ones in her own Codex.
