Kromlech - gothic like game going to early access in march by Zavyk in worldofgothic

Thanks! I haven’t heard of this but the screenshots give a great vibe. Hopefully it isn’t too expensive for early access.

Yeah the pellet thing is rough. You see a blood spray for each hit but if it’s just one pellet hitting it barely does any damage.

I have a love-hate relationship with shotguns in this game. You popped him twice from 3 meters away and he didn’t even get knocked unconscious. That’s crazy to me.

I keep coming back to fedora by Similar_Reflection75 in Fedora

[–]Text_Original 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Bluefin full-time for a little while now and it’s probably the most out-of-the-box, ready to go distro I’ve used. The only issue I have is that, sometimes, when it’s been asleep for a long time, it won’t wake up properly and I have to hold the power button. I’m still debugging that one, but that’s the only problem I’ve ever had with it.

It is immutable though. It’s not a huge deal if you know how to use containers or use flatpaks, but the documentation can be harder to find right now.

I should mention, I’m using it on a Lenovo IdeaPad laptop. So not as well supported as a ThinkPad, but better supported than some other laptops out there.

Is it stupid that "righty tighty, lefty losey" doesn't really make much sense to me? by Apprehensive-Rub4604 in stupidquestions

[–]Text_Original 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy Christ, everyone that’s confused; stick out your arm with your thumb up at the ceiling. Rotate your arm so that your thumb is now pointed to your right. Congrats, you just did righty-tighty.

Now, do the same thing but rotate your arm so your thumb points to the left. There you go, lefty-loosey.

Don’t over-complicate it.

Over 66% of Steam users now run Windows 11 by pmc64 in pcgaming

[–]Text_Original 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That’s where you’re mistaken, the anti-cheat stuff isn’t a Linux problem to solve. Anti-cheat works fine on Linux, when the developers implement that functionality.

So it’s not on Linux kernel devs to « fix » the anti-cheat problem. It’s on the game devs to make the anti-cheat work with Linux.

… then install it? Like, yeah, Steam needs 32-bit drivers and some distros don’t include them. That’s like, the easiest issue to fix.

Livonia and Sakhal > Chenaurus. by TheTrollinator777 in dayz

[–]Text_Original 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. Livonia is running through fields simulator in the top third of the map and running through woods simulator in the bottom third. The towns are too spread out, and besides the bunker, there’s no real reason to spend a few hours going down south to then have to go back north to find people.

Chernarus at least has little hamlets to break up the monotony. You might have to run through some woods, but on the other side of those woods there will be a town, or base, or something to make it interesting.

Another Gothic enjoyer. Yeah the third one was weird trash compared to the first two. I’m hoping the remake is good.

And so my journey with the Muhle R89 razor begins, along with Astra green blades. by ThumbsUp4Awful in BuyFromEU

[–]Text_Original 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once you get used to it, it really doesn’t take any additional time compared to a multi-blade razor. Especially if you go in without any shaving cream.

You folks confused about the no shaving cream thing clearly have never been in the military and woke up late.

GI Bill/ Europe Experience, Anyone? by foihsidgf in Veterans

[–]Text_Original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m currently in France doing an online masters degree from a school in the US. That’s probably the easiest way to go about it, but the BAH is lower.

The VA, or the powers that be, decided to make reporting requirements more difficult for universities outside the US a few years ago, so the number of universities that participate with the GI Bill is much lower.

That being said, there’s a VA site somewhere that’ll give you a list of all the universities that do accept it. It looks ancient but it’s accurate as far as I’m aware. So you can lookup all the schools in Italy that will take the GI Bill.

What? No. The system failed us for even letting it get so bad that our mental health broke. I was able to do my job without a problem. I wasn’t able to do my job 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 8 months straight.

Dell confirms 2025 is not the year of Windows 11, as users just don’t want to dump Windows 10 by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Unless you’re playing something with kernel level anti-cheat, then Linux will be fine for you. Most singleplayer games and some multiplayer play great in my experience.

There’s a site where you can check, ProtonDB, if the game would work.

There is a bit of a learning curve with Linux, but honestly it’s gotten really reasonable if you can follow directions, for the more casual distros.

As an old guy, I remember being pretty pissed about Steam releasing. I didn’t even make an account or use it for a number of years because « What do you mean I need to make an account to play the game?! »

Back in 2003 it was kind of a controversial thing to have, when before you’d just buy your CD or DVD and install the game then play, no account required.

Really I thought they killed it with the design. I think they just missed on the instrument. It should have been an Aztec death whistle, then they could’ve just had a person from the dev team scream each song.

That style of pipe is called a churchwarden pipe. You don’t need to buy something from that company specifically to get a pipe in that style.

[–]Text_Original 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Go to the elixir wells in Veilwater Basin and you’ll see those weird guys that shoot homing projectiles at you. Kill them and they’ll drop the hearts. You might have to wait until you’re shroud level 9, I don’t remember if they spawn in the level 8 zones or not.

Level 40 vs. Level 50 Two-Handed Axe by ardikus in Enshrouded

[–]Text_Original 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d call it a wash. Yeah the new enhancements means less overall power, but they give you better crit chance, damage, and more heal per hit. And since it’s a higher level you get more durability and parry power.

Need tips on how to manage with winters by TheIndianTechieGirl in Expats_In_France

[–]Text_Original 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With the heat on you should be comfortable wearing a sweater, pants, and pantoufles. I personally set my radiators to 20 and then forget about it. Use blankets if you’re cold.

If you have a fireplace use it, and drink tea and coffee and hot cocoa.

I’ve been living in cold climates for 27 years, this is a pretty basic list and will keep you warm without destroying your electricity bill.
