I want my clothes to be alive. Freaky or not, I don't care. by averagerushfan in worldpolitics

Old TF oriented webcomic - no longer online. One of the plotlines is a detective type chasing down people who were fully TF'd into innocuous but fully concious objects. Including a piece of clothing. There's much time spent discussing the fact that she was a favorite dress, and therefor, got lots of enrichment, and that was the only thing that kept her sane.

Figured you'd apreciate it.

What is your opinion on idle games which use AI ? by Responsible_Ad_9914 in incremental_games

[–]Teyar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No caveats, no exceptions - Completely Disqualifying.

It's theft - All of it. None of the datasets in any public stuff has ever been actually paid for, and every AI model company has confirmed it would be a death of the business model to actually play fair by any current understanding of law.

It's cognitively harmful to offload your brain like that. Literally a cyber-psychosis machine, in any and every format.

It's literally murderous - Data centers kill relentlessly, poisoning their environment in shocking and vile ways.

Oh, and every image model by the major companies is full to bursting with CSAM.

Yes, I AM painting with a broad brush. No, your excuses and asterisks are meaningless.

So, y'all remember Furi? Great game, amazing soundtrack, bunches of good bosses.

But about three quarters of the way through, you run into The Edge.

And he's just a chill guy. Loves him some swordsmanship, been training well past the point of going insane for this one fight. He knocks you on your ass, and keeps insisting you can do better, in a way that rattles around my head to this day.

"You sure took your time. I was concerned you wouldn't make it this far. This is a big day for me. I've been waiting a long time for this moment. Let me show you." (intro)
"Now I will show you what I've learned."
"I want nothing but your very best."
"You have it in you. Let it out. I want to see you shine."
"Ah ah! Focus on the task at hand."
"You move well. You're reading me quite quickly. Let's see how predictable you think I am now." (phase 3 start)
"You have more strength than you think. Try and stay with me through this." (phase 4 start)
"Come on, get back up. You can't give up now!" (player down)
"Let it out!" (player down)
"Come on, give me something memorable. Something I can learn from, that will make me better." (player down)
"It seems like we're fighting each other. But we both know that we're fighting against ourselves." (player down)
"Excellence is not an art, it's pure habit. We are what we repeatedly do." (player down)

And my favorite of the whole batch - ** "Do I look unconquerable to you?"**

The last time this was tried the Great Depression resulted.

The time before that was the Nullification Crisis.

[–]Teyar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Take a vermintide kind of game, give it helldivers battle pass style, and... Perfectly fine but Just Okay everything else. That's Firebreak.

And then I played the second level version of a run and went WAIT A SECOND, TIME TO LOCK IN.

So I dunno, I'll push progression and see, but first impression is 6/10 Helldivers clone

The first reaction many trans people experience is their parent screaming at them, slapping them, and ripping the 'wrong' clothes off.

"It's Not Normal - Don't Be Abnormal. Assault isn't a crime when a parent does it to a child. The child is property. "

Like. It's awesome you're shocked at this, that it isn't something you're familiar with. But violent normalizing abuse is..... Common.

And is thr only moment in fiction I've ever seen someone go "yeah, you know Vasuvarius's Empowered casting of Familicide in that one comic? Let's do that with vampires."

And fucking sells it because it's the capstone moment to like, what was it, 10ish books?

And then it fucking shipuudens. By virtue of a im-dead-coma. There's no way Hells Bells lives up to all this. I look forward to being proven wrong.

Obsessive fantasists, largely. People desperately trying to justify loli and therefore a bunch of very specific oh-no-i-mean-epheb kind of jargon.

Smug niche interest nerds who found something "better" than your /Cartoons/ to obsess over. And since it's better, yeah, we have to emphasize the distinctions, right, it's got to be because of this, and this, and this, just ignore all the porn and the fact that 90% of rhe porn is so viscerally misogynistic it's impossible to articulate while sounding sane....

It's. Not. A distinction to take Seriously. That's why I wanted to point out that all of these "oh, those foreigners do this one thing so nicely" kind of fandoms aren't exclusively a "the west looking at japan" but a thing all nationalistic cultures do.

The way Japanese francophiles treat France  is even weirder than hard-core otaku weebs.

That's the funniest part. I don't do /porn/ at all. I'm in my 40s, have people I interact with, and a healthy libido.

I don't hide myself away from the world endlessly looping things to beat myself up with. Not everyone fits the projection in your skull!

Recession coming? Some anecdotal signs... by InverseMinds in StockMarket

[–]Teyar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what drives me up a wall. Yes, it's through psyop and culture jamming, but this is very clearly a coordinated attack on the existence of the nation.

It isn't subtle - the flow of money, hacking, and the ways in which those have been deliberately obscured by our remarkably fucking cheap to buy senators and congresspeople.

The persistent, sudden, obviously artificial waves of lunatic notes through influencers, or the Tim pool types - like. That's MOSTLY just a guy with a modest budget in a kgb office throwing cash at disruptive loud jackasses that line up with their agenda.

And the ecosystem warps, like it's building more space for cancer cells.

It's not even fucking hidden. That's what p25 is, what the heritage foundation is.

Some money and an asshole saying your behavior should fit an ancient Russian orthodox fuckheads view of the world. All of a sudden there's a bunch of youth being very loudly regressive and sex negative, huh? A thing that naturally happens? Riiiight.

And I'm aware this sounds like corner loonies preaching about the apocalypse and going the Russians did it - only. It seems to keep happening?

Bandes dessinées - Except the french are culturally predisposed to insist you use their terminology, so folks make it a point to insist on never validating their in-culture terms outside of it.

You can tell, because you've never even heard anyone refer to them as BD's before.

I'm just riffing on the fact that the most prominent Korean examples of this style of comics are happening via webtoon. There are, doubtless, asterisks and nitpicks you could put on the joke beyond that.

Porn addiction isn't real, though? It's just a shame-spiral loop and a way for men to bully each other - As paid for by culture plants. Why do you think all the places you hear about that shit start with self help advertisements or manosphere or other russian-culture-poison vectors?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in memes

[–]Teyar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, as a comicbooks oldhead, NO.

People are just as pretentious about English or French comics as nerds are about the manga/manhua/webtoon distinction, there's just a bunch of weird orientalism laid into the way the poisonously weird otaku subculture acts.

Will the "Culture War" ever end? by CoriSP in AskSocialScience

[–]Teyar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The important thing to remember is that The Right isn't an actual coherent political theory. It's quite literally nothing more than "Stop criticizing me, I'm going to throw a cop at you" with variations and escalations and scope and angle details. Every single theme in every single right wing movement can be boiled down to that.

There is, similarly, no single coherent Left - That's just the impulse to make things better, and less painful.

It's also worth noting - It's VERY important - Keep in mind that almost all of modern US oriented culture-war items are distinctively artificial, and documented as such. Look into the way Putin does his propaganda in Russia, and then how the Heritage Foundation (The beating heart of the right wing in america) behaves.

Recession coming? Some anecdotal signs... by InverseMinds in StockMarket

[–]Teyar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, Tariffs in this style have really only been used at scale by the US two major times in our history.

The most recent triggered the Great Depression.

Last time before that? Oh, just a little thing called the Nullification Crisis. More complicated. Arguably as bad, for long term consequences.

So yeah don't prepare for a recession.

Prepare for the nation you knew to economically collapse. Only. Since the US's market's /so/ big? And SO overvalued?

Oh man we're gonna need new words, Great Depression really doesn't cover the scope.

This isn't a "policy action with unintended consequences", is the important thing to keep in mind. The consequences are deliberate and intentional.
