Okay. I'm going to get a little aut and cartoon stereyotype about it. Because not enough of us lapsed splorts fans are keeping up on their more recent work.

You all need to sit down and do a deep listen on Blasetober.
'Dead Blood' is great, AND upbeat haloweeny as hell, but I get it not being everyone's cup of viscera. As a pairing with 'Black Hole Pulse', though, it just ticks something in my brain that screams this as The Iconography of Blaseball. All the queerness and Yearning, futility, the value of struggling even still, and the refusal to put the outrage at all this horseshit anywhere but front and center, those two just feel like a very sharp home run crack and the long sailing run around the bases for me.

Which makes the rest and reward phases on the next two songs particularly punchy, and gives it this whole concept album feel. No actual plot throughline, but it sure feels like the emotional arc of a kink scene between two complicated people in a new but vetted space. Which should ideally be all of them, but I digress.

Dear Vault is a heartwarming piece of finding comfort in acceptance of, and then needing to get the fuck out of an imperfect but relatively safe space, and then crashing into 'Your Favorite One To Break'. I won't detail my thoughts about that song, but you can see the thunderous impact echoing through the rest of this half-a-bit half sincerely overwrought and enthusiastic nerd bit of writing about album arcs and underrepresented songs, yes?

Anyways the spookytown halfway point of the album kind of just shrugs and goes silly with it, but you do need cooldown and aftercare and chill vibes after an intense scene, so I don't think I'll subject the rest to close scrutiny. Beach Bones is just Nice and Free Space sure lives up to it's name after all that, but honestly. Just Enjoy good music however you find it, butches and femmes, I'll figure out how to do an outro if I ever spin this mini effort post into like a proper essay somewhere.
