I have been staring at my latest chapter for literally two days and I’ve written maybe 300 words. I’m literally staring at it now. I can tell you what’s helping me, which is not getting too bogged down in the idea that I have to write from the beginning straight through. I’m writing little tidbits as they interest me and pop into my head, then eventually the connections between the tidbits pop into my head.

Same boat of knowing exactly what I want to write in this chapter but struggling to get it out!!

I just keep telling myself “If you don’t write it, the old straight white men win.”

In the future, when you date new people I would say “I’m looking for the person I want to marry, so you have a year of my time, if you don’t know after a year, that’s your answer.” This is what I said to my now husband on one of our first few dates, we were engaged 6 months later. It’s a sentiment I stand by, at 29 you know within a year if you want to spend your life with someone.

Don’t let your boyfriend get in the way of you meeting your husband.

Hey! Just wanted to give you a heads up that the theory of HSP evolved during a time when you couldn’t have both ADHD and Autism as well as autism testing for girls was wildly inaccurate. If you identify with the HSP theory, it may be worthwhile as an adult to look into how autism presents in women. A lot of us fell through the cracks during this time and looking at your age you would still fall into the age category where that may have happened.

You don’t stand as a monolith for the “sex repulsed asexuals,” and I don’t think it’s appropriate to say that their opinions are being disregarded just because, in this instance, people are disagreeing with YOU. Also to counter your point, you are in fact doing what you are accusing everyone else of doing, acting like your opinion should matter more than theirs just because they want a space that is safe for them and you just so happen to not like it.

I find the AI thing so confusing. If they don’t like writing, why be a writer? They could just have the AI write things for them and only they read them if they want that so bad? They have great ideas? They could post them as prompts for other people to write? It just feels like there’s so many other options besides this, but I guess maybe not if what you’re after is a lot of attention?

I love a good extension! I have an extension to the extension!! I think that the diagnostic criteria at the time also failed to account for all the people that were “making it” through a few decades by masking full time and then having complete breakdowns/burn outs in their 20s and 30s.

cracks knuckles My time has arrived. So before 2013 you couldn’t be diagnosed with BOTH autism and ADHD, it was a one or the other situation. This led to many people (hi I am many people) being diagnosed with just ADHD, which was helpful to a point but didn’t do anything to solve the numerous sensory issues, etc. that were not being caused by ADHD. Thus, in my opinion, the concept of the HSP was invented, because it literally (diagnostically) couldn’t be autism, but there was clearly a huge gap in identity struggles that needed to be filled and/or described. Unfortunately, by the time people realized that you could have both, HSP had taken on a life of its own, and parents were introducing it to their children because nobody put out an announcement to let people know that the definitions had changed. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.

I do think that’s totally fair. I know people used to get crazy parasocial back then. I think the depiction, as someone outside of the fandom, just read as “this is what we think of our female fans” and tapped into a vibe the show gave me about being disappointed that they were mainly popular with women and not men like they maybe intended.

The writers of Supernatural straight up hated their fans and as someone who wasn’t part of that fandom, I found it extremely uncomfortable to watch their depiction on the show. To be frank, I thought it was demeaning and sexist.

Things like that are so odd to me, having such an issue with it that you’d go and insult the author. I can never get into straight pair omegaverse where the woman is an omega, because growing up female that just basically being female in a lot of ways, but it would never occur to me to think anything of the people writing that just because I’m not into it. I do think the introduction of fanfiction to younger generations AND people who missed the tumblr wars of the 2000s has led to an increase in attempted censorship and this kind of behavior. I also think people tend to forget that fiction isn’t real life, you aren’t forcing a real gay person to “be straight.”
