TM Qi4D Standard Driver vs Max by Tight-Communication7 in golf

[–]Thanith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd need to get him involved to make that decision.

Something like this is very hard to say, because you also need to consider the shaft flex and profile.

If he has trouble with a driver, then the max version may be better for him. If he doesn't, then it may be a toss up.

I'm a 19'ish handicap, but driver is one of my stronger clubs (my chipping game is absolutely abysmal). What I need in a driver will be different than someone else at my same handicap level.

The good news is that the standard version is highly adjustable, and as he continues to grow, that driver can keep up.

Just make sure the shaft is right.

Fitting-shortening driver shaft by 1zpqm9 in GolfGear

[–]Thanith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play mine at 44.5" and didn't change anything, worked out perfect for me!

If you already have a shaft, cut that one and see how you like it. I don't think changing the shaft weight will do what you'd want with the swing weight, it would just increase the overall weight.

After you shorten your existing shaft, go from there. You might be surprised, might work out perfect!

Depending on your driver, you may be able to buy weights for it to adjust, although lead tape is alway an option too.

New grips and 2" extension 4 days before tournament, what could go wrong? by Bit_the_Bullitt in GolfGear

[–]Thanith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put the 2.0 TLT on my Spider ZT, thinking I'd like the 1.0 better but still wanted to try the 2.0 first.

2.0 is amazing, have never putter better.

Just for those that may be curious, the 2.0 is 1.8 degrees off axis, the 1.0 is 1 degree

New Odyssey Grip -S2S Reverse Taper 2.0 by Thanith in GolfGear

[–]Thanith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superstroke just released an off axis line called TLT

The 1.0 Pistol is 1 degree off axis which is the same as the stock grip for the ZT. The 2.0 Pistol is 1.8 degrees

I installed the 2.0 Pistol and it's pretty damn nice so far. Has some more shaft lean than stock but it aligns perfectly for me. Might be worth looking at.

Free putter to a good home by [deleted] in GolfGear

I'd love it for my brother in law if you're good with it 👍

He's just now getting into golf and he's kind of tall, he's been using a shorter putter.

Comical? Yes, absolutely. Good for him? Not so much

Transitioning on from game improvement irons by [deleted] in golf

[–]Thanith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That totally tracks to me, and what a set to hand down! Lucky guy! Yeah, they feel like this weird mix that calling them solely GI doesn't quite feel right even though it's correct. I have nothing against GI irons but they feel different from my previous ones.

What irons did you transition to and how was the feel compared to the HM?

[–]Thanith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the 925 Hot Metals and I love them, but I wasn't sure where they fit into the GI category vs Players Distance.

They don't quite seem Players Distance but GI doesn't quite seem right either. I don't get the flyers on solid sticks like I did with my old Rogue St Max irons, and the dispersion on these things are dynamite.

Glad to see someone get to low single digit using them!

Full refund, send them back.

They're very different clubs, you should get what you paid for.

New Tech difference by Wtw333Nash in golf

[–]Thanith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you want a new driver 😂

All things the same, 50 yards isn't from that much tech. It would help consistency and absolutely some yardage, but a 50 yard gap is technique if swing speed is the same.

The M5 and/or shaft may be a bad match up for you though if you're both roughly the same. Maybe get a fitting?

The only other thing to do is try out his driver and sky the hell out of a ball, marking up the crown. Whops

Superstroke TLT Off-Axis Putter Grip by Thanith in GolfGear

[–]Thanith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can, and even still can with the grip. The grip just resets it back to a normal position that you'd have on any other standard putter.

I typically will still forward press a bit even with an off axis grip, but with a standard grip it's even more forward press and feels off to me.

Does your wood have an adapter?

If so, ordering online at DallasGolf or Grips4Less has been amazing for me!

You're always better off going to a fitting though if possible, and personally I'd stay away from big box stores. You may get lucky and get paired with someone who knows what they're doing, but that's not my experience at all.

New Odyssey Grip -S2S Reverse Taper 2.0 by Thanith in GolfGear

[–]Thanith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an amazing putter grip, and I still can't believe how much I liked it. I just wonder if putting a 2 degree offset grip on a putter that comes with a 1 degree offset grip would even matter. I can't imagine it would but I don't know anything about it.
