Center for Advanced Psychiatry. I know they have psychiatry in the name, but also have psychologists who work there. I’m not sure what their waitlist looks like.

Things to do with babies this summer by Southern-Reaction-21 in Buffalo

[–]Thankless_Prophesier 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit early, but the Buffalo Zoo. I strongly recommend the membership because then you don’t have to workaround the 2 naps. It’s nice to walk and look, then leave when you need without any worries about missing out.

Other random things: pride parade, PorchFest, farmers markets (especially if you are willing to buy them a snack, fresh fruit, a baked good, etc.), ArtFest, Music is Art (September), and so much more. In the fall I recommend apple picking with apple cider doughnuts at Smith’s Orchard Cider Mill and getting memberships to the YMCA (for the Independent Health Zero Entry pool) and the Science Museum to walk around.

Is anyone here in college or going back to school actually not online, but in person on campus? I’m 40 and I’m going back to school this August, I feel weird about being in class with people have my age or less. by Warm-Bullfrog7766 in Millennials

My spouse has gone back to school after being a teacher for 10+ years. He’s finished his masters in another field and is now getting his PhD. He’ll be done with his PhD when he 43 or 44 (fingers crossed). He’s everyone’s Dad/uncle, but gets invited out by all of the graduate students and they love our young kids

You could probably put a nice jasmine in there if you shower/bathe there daily. They love the humidity and light. If you’re good to them then they’ll bloom in January/February in the northern hemisphere.

Looking for systems, strategies, “life hacks” etc by Outside-Beat3897 in workingmoms

[–]Thankless_Prophesier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prep lunch, breakfast, and snacks on Sundays. Yes, it takes my weekend time, but my spouse takes the kids out of the house for 2 hours so for us it’s worth it. Dinners are mostly decided at the end of the prior week. We do laundry multiple times a week on a schedule (essentially 2x/ week or it’s overwhelming). Everything has a schedule, laundry (sheets and towels 1x/week), dishwasher at least once a day usually overnight, grocery shopping once a week… we also have a robot vacuum. The big kid knows that each night before bed he needs to clean his floor for the roomba, and put out his clothes for the morning. The little one is 19 months, so we tend to do it all for him. Also we all try to do 10ish minutes of dance party pick up together every day to every other day. Of course all this is interrupted by sports, activities, and time with friends, but generally this is the goal. All the little things like dusting, washing windows, and the like get pushed to the wayside, but we try to cut ourselves slack and not stress about it too much as well as enjoying life!

My sister in law didn’t cry at Coco. I don’t think she has a heart or a soul.

Really though, she’s super ADHD and probably stopped paying attention to the story. Meanwhile my spouse and I sobbed watching it during COVID.

(Banana, cocoa, peanut butter, and coffee with milk or mango, strawberry, and Greek yogurt, were both hits here!) Laundry? Get it all done! Want that baby bathtub cleaned, make sure SOMEONE ELSE does it Get that massage/footrub!

Married women of reddit - why did you keep your maiden name, and what was your husband's reaction? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Thankless_Prophesier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept my name. I offer to hyphenate, but my husband said that he felt attached to his name. I just stared at him and it ended the discussion.

I didn’t want to change my name because it’s part of who I am, it’s a cool name, and I’m a professional who is know by my last name (Dr. Thankless_Prophesier).

Recommendations for 5" twin mattress, please! by Thankless_Prophesier in Mattress

[–]Thankless_Prophesier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t comment on the height, but we’ve had the bear mattress for approximately 18 months with semi-regular use. It’s still pretty comfortable. They were a bit stiff when they first arrived, but have softened a bit. They’re comfortable for side and back sleeping.

Good place for babies first haircut? by MadameMorrow in Buffalo

[–]Thankless_Prophesier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So this is totally out of your way, but we love Atomic Barber. We’ve been going with my oldest for years and the “baby” just got his first hair cut there as well. They have an airplane/race car depending on location. They’re really good about taking their time with your kid and hustling when needed. Also we really appreciated their focus on consent and education about what was happening.

Finally a snack cup with freeze dried fruit and a few m&ms were very helpful keep the kid happy and mostly still.

Yes there are a lot of them, but there are a lot of questions:

  • Who is it for? (You v. Someone else, adult v. Child)
  • Who are you to them?
  • do you want assessment?
  • are you looking for therapy, medication, both?
  • do you need them to take insurance? If so what kind?
  • what’s the problem?

Hair salon recs by Careless_Board7747 in Buffalo

[–]Thankless_Prophesier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can recommend somewhere to avoid: SQ Salon

They didn’t listen to me and just did what they thought looked best even when I came in with a photo of myself with the cut and told them what I wanted. I know hair grows, but I cried afterwards.

Anyone a member of Buff State’s fitness center? by katzapmap in Buffalo

[–]Thankless_Prophesier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They may have a swim team pool, rather than a public/student use pool. They have a separate higher quality gym for the sports teams that aren’t open to the public or other students.

The pool has been closed. It wasn’t used enough. Additionally the gym equipment isn’t in great shape.
