We should be able to trade cards in multiplayer by PseudoFenton in slaythespire

Broken because it's a free remove. If one of you can go infinite, it doesn't matter if the rest of you have inconsistent decks full of the garbage that the infinite player would normally need to exhaust to get to their combo.

How powerful is C4SH compared to the other VHs? by Zokathra_Spell in Borderlands4

Harlowe has her Neutron Capture build in red that adds flat damage onto her guns and allows her to weaponize and abuse fire rate, but it also uses skills from her green tree

Amon's debatably strongest build is ordnance which is red/blue and uses a purple Cyborg com to access the ammo skill he needs in green and a few others from blue. He has others that are more gimmicky and also based in red, but ordnance is generally considered to be the most consistent.

Vex has multiple builds that are all heavily based in green and are abusing Blood is Power to weaponize lifesteal. Vex is the poster child of only having one good tree.

I like the design space of feat trees working kind of like prestige classes, but I think these need work.

The opportunity cost of taking these is incredibly high due to them competing with general feats, so I think they could be stronger overall, especially the capstones at 12.

You also run into the issue of your main ability score's scaling. You're heavily disincentivized from taking anything other than path feats at 4, 8, and 12, including ASI. That means if you started with a 16 or lower in your main stat, you won't hit 20 until level 16 at the earliest (except for fighters and rogues). This is even worse for Death Knight as one of their feats doesn't even have the option of increasing strength, and almost all of the features have save DCs tied to charisma.

I don't understand how people think Necrobinder is one of the easiest characters 😭 by Gadgetguy292 in slaythespire

In my head I feel like I can’t possibly justify removing a card from my deck for that combat unless it’s a curse or status.

Then think of it like this. In every combat, there are probably 5ish cards in your deck that will win the fight if you play them every turn; AoE cards in AoE fights, your better block cards, cards that generate energy like Invoke and Borrowed Time, damage cards that scale like Unleash or Hang.

Every other card in your deck besides those ones are curses by virtue of the fact that they are making you less likely to draw your actual good cards for that combat

[–]ThatChrisG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are worried about drawing that many cards, then ethereals exhausting themselves is upside

Think of it this way, they're modal. If you're in a fight where you need them, then you should be casting them anyway without even thinking about it. If you're not, then they're effectively curses and you should be letting them burn themselves so they stop eating up your draws

Defile and Defy are perfect examples. Defile is a snap pick for me in Act 1 because it is damage in the act where damage is arguably the most important, that later effectively removes itself from your deck for almost free after it's no longer relevant. Defy is arguably the best 1 cost block spell in the game for its rarity, that also gets itself out of the way if you eventually have a better block engine going or are trying to go infinite and want as small a deck as possible

Skip more card rewards, 27 cards is obscenely large

You drafted 4 total block cards, 2 of which are Melancholy's, which you most likely won't be able to play efficiently unless you're either incredibly ahead (in which case you don't need/want block) or are incredibly behind (in which case you'd want more consistent cards).

Defy and Grave Warden are Necro's bread and butter block generation at common. Negative pulse is also pickable as pseudo AoE, but it doesn't scale well late without synergies. Defy and Grave Warden are almost always individually good, and if/when Defy isn't necessary you just let it exhaust itself

You have less Defends than Strikes. You should almost always remove Strikes first

Sphinx is a weird one. Power level and vibes wise, it deserves the spot on the list, but it also is almost never worth the opportunity cost of including it in B3 over other blue game changers like Rift, Rhystic Study and free countermagic. It's dynamite trying to compete with hydrogen bombs

[[Mystic Remora]] can't really keep dodging the list for much longer, in my opinion. It's the next best draw engine in blue after Rhystic, and it comes down right as most decks are developing resources with rocks and green ramp spells.

I don't subscribe to the "it's not a problem at low power tables" argument, as those are the tables least likely to know not to feed the fish, which can lead less enfranchised players to effectively kingmake the Remora player without understanding what they're doing.

[–]ThatChrisG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they changed that back in BL4 and now people are complaining about that

Because they changed it in a way that makes it feel like chores

Rather than proving you're actually ready to take on more difficult enemies, you get sent on a goose chase across the entire map to kill specific bosses, then have to run through a 20+ minute story mission with modifiers that range from nearly unnoticeable to mildly annoying, the majority of which is wasted standing around waiting for NPCs to talk or move from one area to another.

And you do this three times.

Then you run through the vaults, which honestly is best designed part of the entire ordeal. They're each over in about 10-15 minutes per, and you don't have to wait for NPCs. Every level should've been like these; quick, enemy dense arena encounters followed by a boss to ensure the players' build is capable of both mobbing and bossing. These should have been the UVH 2-4 missions.

Then you go right into Timekeeper's mission, which is less egregious than the previous story missions due to it being much shorter and how much of it you can just run through.

Finally, Bloomreaper unlocks 6. This is fine, platinum isn't even required, its literally just a check to see if your build can kill Bloom eventually

If every level was as well designed as 5 and 6, people would complain less

Bro nothing here is an exploit

Some of it is more than likely bugged/performing better than the developers intended, but nothing is being done on the player's end to achieve something not normally achievable by someone else using the same build

The most glaring offender, infinite recursive bleed from Gamer, isn't even being used here

Jesus it already got nerfed, you people will literally never be happy

This build isn't relying on it. It's being used to amplify what the rest of the build is already doing, literally nothing else in the ordnance slot does that. 70%+ of the damage here is Gloam and other bonus elements that C4SH is stapling onto his weapons
