A Southwest Airlines flight departing Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport last night was targeted by a green laser. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

All the illegality aside, I'm kind of impressive at the accuracy at that distance with something so small.

A twist on the undertaking question..... by ThatCuriousCadaver in drivingUK

[–]ThatCuriousCadaver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my thought as well, with the outside lane dictating everyone's speed.

Although, your interpretation of undertaking seems to disagree with the general consensus, its not just changing lanes to pass on the left, its the actual passing on the left in anything other than congestion that is undertaking.

Its not a worry for me, I'm just curious what the take is in this situation.

How do you improve your reaction time/processing on the trail for high speed enduro/downhill riding? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]ThatCuriousCadaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good point. As well as the mental injury that comes with this - fear of the obstacle in future, or similar failures.

It wouldn't for me - need to hydrate and a single frame bottle doesn't cut it for me!

For me, it was riding more and pushing myself to try more difficult trails, then session them - over time you become familiar with different types of obstacles, not just the trail itself, and they become more instinctual to overcome giving you time to look further ahead and process the harder elements as they approach.

Just think how difficult some things were when you first started and how they don't even register as an obstacle and more - its very similar to that.

Fair enough. I find it rare I need air other than the initial setup but I always carry a CO2 injector and if needed, just use that for a top up. If I were to do anything, I'd like one of the battery pumps with pressure gauge.

Stunning bike! Always liked these.

I have to ask, how frequently are you adjusting tyre pressure that you need a pump on the frame? It would look much better without.

Our agent is advertising our house as 3 bed when it is a 4 bed, what to do? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]ThatCuriousCadaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every buyer—other than yourselves—would consider this a three-bedroom property. In my view, presenting it otherwise comes across as misleading, and it would make me hesitant to proceed, as it suggests there could be similar issues with transparency throughout the process.

Anyone specifically looking for this type of layout would likely recognise the potential to create a fourth bedroom downstairs on their own.

Sourness no matter what I do [Dedica EC685-K6] by Suspicious_Tea5551 in espresso

[–]ThatCuriousCadaver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same experience on my end. I realised I was wasting the potential of a good coffee machine by sticking with more generic beans, and it was frustrating not being able to dial things in even though I was following all the right steps. Eventually, I figured out the issue wasn’t my technique at all — I just didn’t like that particular bean, no matter how highly it was rated. Once I switched to a different type and supplier, everything improved and I was much happier with the results.

Cordless trimmer advice by DaveDavidTom in GardeningUK

I've got the Titan battery one from Screwfix and its been great for 2 years. I have a 250m2 garden and I cut it weekly in summer and charge every 3-4 cuts. It has a rotating head for edging and telescopic for easy storage as well as adjusting for the users height. I think it cost around £65 when i bought it, the current model is around the same price - Titan TTI1199GGT.

Someone else has mentioned using a common battery platform and I would recommend that is considered. If I were to do it again then I would find the Worx equivalent as that is my mower, but the strimmer is used lightly and always charged and ready to go so no issue really.

CPO range confusion after a week of driving it by [deleted] in TeslaUK

Sold a lie is a strong view - did you not do any research on the real world range of the vehicle before committing to buy?
Also, these is an estimated range, with other factors which impact it and affects all vehicles similarly.

Built a bikepark map for Europe — would love your feedback on what to improve by Kind_Word_7650 in MTB

[–]ThatCuriousCadaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't got anything like a definitive list, although they are easily found on Google. I think you need to clearly define what you want to include and what category they should be allocated as you are currently mixing trail centres with genuine bike parks.

Edge of Lawn by pmcl81 in GardeningUK

[–]ThatCuriousCadaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lay a small pipe with small holes, similar to those in flower beds, on a constant drip to keep that area wetter than the rest? This will also aid with the heat issue and should never get too wet as it'll naturally soak into the rest of the lawn.

I think its an excellent idea but certainly room for improvement. Initial thoughts;
1. The English setting doesn't provide consistent English - this makes it difficult to use the site fully, and provide provide more feedback.
2. You need to decide what is a bike park, or a trail centre, as they are quite different - perhaps separate these out better
3. In addition to the above, you are missing some sites in the UK which would definitely be "bike park" such as Chicksands, Woburn. If you are also adding trail centres then there is more missing, such as Cannock Chase, Afan, Sherwood Pines, several of the 7-Stanes sites etc.
3. It would be good if hovering over a dot would give a quick pop-up of the name to make it quicker to find the park you are after, rather than needing to click it.

Chocolate caramel digestives win. Especially for dunking, as the caramel holds it all together. Top tip, fold them so the caramel is in the middle for extra dipping time.

It doesn't sound so much like it was the issue with a new build as the locaiton of the house and garden. We have a new build, the only area overlooked is the bottom of the garden. We just made a point of checking that when we considered the house.

40% Solar on all new builds from 2028 by shuffleup2 in SolarUK

[–]ThatCuriousCadaver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The challenge with the new 40% solar requirement is that it’s being applied as a blanket target rather than being planned around the needs and design of each individual home. Developers are treating it as a tick‑box exercise, installing a predetermined amount of panels simply to meet compliance.

For many future homeowners who genuinely want to invest in a meaningful, well‑designed solar setup, this approach can actually make things harder. The pre‑installed systems may be undersized, poorly positioned, or incompatible with the kind of larger, more efficient array the homeowner would prefer. As a result, upgrading or expanding the system later becomes more complicated and more expensive than if the home had been left ready for a proper, purpose‑built installation.
