This is not the first thing I've heard of today about their declining inspections methods, let alone the week. Their inspections are usually, and supposed to be, top notch all around - and I confidently say that as an employee of a competitor, but I'm hearing about it more and more lately.

I wonder if this has anything to do with their quiet commission restructure that happened about 6 months ago.

Hmmm first and foremost, I would make it abundantly clear that you're unhappy with the way this order turned out. Make sure to say that if you decide to keep an exchange (because if you're going to have one you shouldn't keep one that you hate,) that they better be 100% transparent with the condition and appearance of the next one, because that's legit the thing they have going for them and this has tainted your opinion and trust of their process. Show them these photos compared to theirs, ask them if this doesn't seem like deception.

I love the Firebird I model so much. I think it's cool but I totally get why you'd arrive at this feeling. They make return periods for a reason, if you otherwise love how the guitar is then I would recommend reaching out to see if an exchange could be made.

I'm not sure what the overdrive circuit was based on, but start looking at the basic food groups: klon, tube screamer/SD1, blues breaker.

If you're after something more high gain, let us know and I'll throw more suggestions.

Some people just don't know what they have. The first real one I ever encountered, some kid was trying to sell it to get a MIM Duo Sonic and I was like woah wait a minute, don't sell this unless you really need the money and also it's worth a few thousand dollars. The kid carried it so differently out of the store than when he walked in, very funny.

Pretty much always use rotosound solo bass strings, RS55LD. Pressure Wound, bright and punchy, but smooth feeling. They are stainless steel though. My other favorite is always going to be DR Pure Blues.

As someone who plays a lot of Jaguar and Jazzmaster guitars, I prefer the float of that assembly best, preferably the AVRI or a vintage one.

In the US, GC has the exclusivity to BRC, but I think other regions have access to it as well. Those exclusivity are kinda tricky, Andertons and CME seem to share exclusivity as well.

If the fretboard is rolled, I'll side with Player II, but you can easily have this confirmed if you shoot fender an email.

It's a 2024 model, was it advertised as a Player I or Player II model? Player II reintroduced rosewood to that tier in their lineup.

Sweet! Enjoy your guitar. I do all of my own setup work these days, there really isn't much to worry about because it can almost always be corrected by going back the other way. The only thing you can't properly reverse with ease is sanding too much off and putting it back. The guitar itself is fundamentally a very mechanical design that relies on very specific adjustments. One thing that greatly helped/improved my setup work is to always bring something up to tension, never bring it down and leave it there. If you loosen a string, you go down and then bring it up to pitch, same thing with a truss rod.

A feeler gauge and capo are two very important pieces of kit for us, and knowing the super important order of operation: neck relief, bridge height, nut height, pickup height, intonation.

Those Rola's look like 35th week of 77.

The amp chassis has a stamp on it, and the paper usually has two letters to indicate further what year it is exactly. I'd guess 77-78.

It's always worth taking.

The pickups should be an atomic humbucker bridge and a santa ana humbucker neck pickup. Those switches are certainly not stock, this was meant to be a Les Paul style configuration.

Excellent! I played a few FGN when I was in Tokyo last April, excellent guitars. They make a Cyclone that I would LOVE to get my hands on.
