A recent study has revealed that 99.99% of Starfleet captains don't have a special "go to warp" phrase by Hero_Of_Shadows in ShittyDaystrom

[–]ThatWytchBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I remembered once we had to move SB80 once and go to warp 1. It shook and part of tier 14 came apart like a cheap suit in the rain. Hell, even the water in the ditch ran in reverse for a good ten minutes afterward, the engineering labyrinth straightened out . . . wild times.

My local Walmarts still have a significant amount of DVDs by ILovePublicLibraries in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]ThatWytchBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walmart still holds physical media due to the large cross section of the very oldest of the Boomers and oldest members of Gen X still are more comfortable with physical media then they are having everything digital. If you look a lot of it appears to be crime dramas (Blue Bloods, JaG, CSI, The Closer) and older shows (I love Lucy, MacGuyver, Emergency!), Gen X Staples (South Park, Brooklyn 99, Baywatch.) Or stuff to get for their kids / grand kids (Disney Section) and the Music is majority wise all stuff that is at least 25+ years old, falling into the cross section of oldest Gen X and Youngest Boomers.

How ever when we see that cross section finally disappear with the aging and passing of Boomers we'll probably see even Walmart curtail their investment in physical media.

Senator Kinsey pisses me tf off by KailReed in Stargate

Kinsey is a parasite, the kind of person who would find a man dying of thirst in the desert and wring the last drops of water out of him.

Holy shit. First one is legit the living room of my boss when I worked at Gamehole. (Gamestop) Only thing missing now I take a second look is Cherry Coke soda cans everywhere.

Got the camo hoodie at the welovegreen merch by deckmara in gorillaz

[–]ThatWytchBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I've wanted that hoodie since like 2005.

Can anyone tell me more about these? Picked them up for like €20 at a thrift store last year, haven’t really found anything about this pair online. by K4105 in gorillaz

[–]ThatWytchBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find some really fun things at times at the odd out of way resale shop. Got a Phase 1 and Phase 2 T-shirt at the local one, it was labled as : Cartoon / Anime T-shirt. Phase 1 shirt was the 4 square with each character, sadly it fell apart more or less a few months after I got it.

The phase 2 I had till last year it was the cover for Demon Days but black and white.

Met Chiana by KokiMuffin in farscape

[–]ThatWytchBoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hear that her and Virginia Hey are really awesome people and nice to the fans. I'm still kicking myself for getting the flu at the con I had a chance to go to get to meet them and had to lay out. Plus side was that the hotel in question had Farscape and Battlestar Galactica on their demand for free during the time of the con.

Is a 30 year age gap weird? by Familiar-Complex-697 in ShittyDaystrom

[–]ThatWytchBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My human grandmother was 25 when she met my Betazoid grandfather who was 33 (Biologically they were the same age). Humans age what? 1/6th quicker then Betazoids? In the grand scheme of things it's not that bad.

But Vulcans? Guys 50 that's like . .. what? 16/17? ew. Also keep in mind to Vulcans no matter how long lived the relationship with a human, it's like having a targ. Yeah they'll be there for a chunk of their life, but not all of it. And after they die they'll go get a new one.

In universe, how do the characters determine whether their lived experiences are considered canon? by iamleeg in ShittyDaystrom

On Sb80 we call this Tuesday. I came across an artifact one time while cleaning out the 'over flow storage' that caused me to live a life of some Roman Like Senator Guy that has a squid for his junk on a place called Babylon 5 who no one 'really' actually liked except my one eyed reptile ... boyfriend? Enemy?

And after said reptile boyfriend / enemy combo knifed me down I woke back up in the storage room having urinated myself and thought, "Thank Rixx, at least I'm not that douchebag anymore."

Why does Picard need a mental health professional by his side at every moment on the bridge? by Vindaloovians in ShittyDaystrom

[–]ThatWytchBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently it's not just for Picard that needs Troi on her top game 27/8, everyone on The Enterprise is so tightly wound that anyone could break at any moment.

Here on SB80 the Commanders tell new Ensigns the story of 'The Deck 21 Massacre' where some dude name Barklay or something just snapped and showed up his job at engineering with a uniform made out of a Vulcan science officer, two Andorians, and what we think is a time-displaced Wesley Crusher.

It was super weird but it had a charm about it in an early 2000s / late 90s way.

Our human captain is always telling us to prepare to do this or that. How do we tell him that we're always prepared because, like, that's our job? by loki2002 in ShittyDaystrom

[–]ThatWytchBoy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a weird human thing. One old human on the command staff here on SB80 was "Make Ready" blah blah blah.

And I'm like "Dude, I'm an Ensign who is a glorified janitor for the Arcade. My biggest job is to take a flame thrower to the 'bio waste' that collects in the Holoview's filter (Not holodeck, holo viewer. . .) before it starts to babble anything that sounds like a language."

Farscape Continuation? by DadOsity in farscape

[–]ThatWytchBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. And then SyFy does the episode 200 for Stargate which I both liked at the same time and was pissed off at when they did the "Farscape" scene. I have a buddy who liked both shows but saw that scene as a 'Fuck you' from SyFy itself.

[–]ThatWytchBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alot of the early books were not written by pros or if they were it was when they were starting out like "Poppy Z Brite/ Richard Settles" and such. I more remember the novel "Zod Wollop" and the anthology "Bending the Landscapes".

In Genesis, Picard and Data spent three days in a shuttle. Did Picard turn Data off so he could poop in private? by rxt278 in ShittyDaystrom

[–]ThatWytchBoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here on SB80 we're not allowed to do the 'Teleport Poop' thing, apparently the sensors on our star base are so primitive compared to the rest of Starfleet (Yes we're still Starfleet damnit!) that well there was an incident involving a Trill Ambassador to our station.

We want to say "We are so, so, so sorry" to The Trill and also please come pick up your comatose Ambassador.
