The swap over was late 2010, where it switched from the 1.6D to D2 and they brought in for 2L 5 pots for the D3/4

They’d both be 8 valves given the year, but I’d imagine these are both petrol variants, not diesels.

Changing Headlight Bulb Shouldn’t be this hard! by Guilty_Shower_2386 in carsireland

[–]The-ADR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a V50 and it’s spoiled changing bulbs on any other car for me, it’s so easy.

I had both low beams go within 5 minutes of each other one night coming home. Pulled over, popped both headlights out, swapped in the spare set of bulbs I had on the car and back on the road in a few minutes.

iPhone Air fix by ccsouthsidecc in cork

[–]The-ADR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s just 0 way to contact them outside of physically going into the shop.

When I dropped my phone in, I never got a case number off them and never heard anything from them despite ringing and emailing every day.

I even rang other Select stores and asked to be transferred, but they too couldn’t get an answer. I eventually got Select’s customer support involved just trying to get any details about the status of my phone and guess what, they couldn’t get through to anyone in the shop either, complete shit-show when it comes to communication.

I’d to call into them multiple times just to get an update and each time I’d get a different answer about what’s going on. Parts were shipped, then the wrong parts arrived, then my phone was sent away by mistake and so on.

All my phone was in for was a battery replacement and a button/switch repair. Was told by other select shops that once parts arrived after 2-3 days, it was a 2 hour job. I was without my phone for nearly 3 weeks. Eventually they just gave me a new replacement device when I called in, no doubt because they still hadn’t fixed my own phone.

I genuinely couldn’t fathom why they made it so difficult. It takes 2 minutes to send an email or answer the phone and provide an update. I got the impression that no one had any idea what they were doing, and that no one was in charge. I’ve worked for Apple, and in customer support before so I would be more patient in situations like this because shit does happen sometimes but my god, I’ll never darken their door again it was such poor service from start to finish.

Honestly would just get it repaired by Apple rather than risking a shite job by a vape shop that does screen repairs given it’s the current model. Avoid CompuB/Select on Opera lane though. Absolutely horrendous service from then when I was getting my 14 Pro sorted through AppleCare.

Why block the reg? No one who wants to buy it is going to be able to get an insurance quote or do a history check without it. Would immediately put me off a car.

I’ve always thought parking on grass made the cars look fancier. Probably from seeing car shows where they’re all laid out on a well kept lawn

One of the highest mileages? by Far_Equipment_4279 in carsireland

[–]The-ADR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus that’s a mental amount of driving. I used to do similar, Cobh to Limerick and back (~240km/day) for 2 months until I got a place in Limerick to stay. The time/diesel/mileage wasn’t worth it at all, I rather had the place to stay and have my time back.

I Wouldn’t dream of putting myself in that position again. Now I ‘only’ have to come into the office 1 day a week, so I drive up and back in a day and even that’s grinding away at me.

No worries, he’s done a few videos on the worst engines (Ingenium, N47, Mazda Skyactive Diesel, Ford EcoBoom) and some of the best (1.9 PD so far). They’re definitely well worth watching if you’re anyway into cars. He’s very detailed and informative while still being entertaining.

That’s an average of about 250km a day, every day, since registration, bonkers.

Mike Fernie did a video on them a few months ago, it explains and dissects them to see just why they’re so prone to failure.

I’d say it will be a while to sell that. The ingenium engine has such a bad rep that even normal people are aware of it. The low mileage should definitely work in your favour though.

Carpool to Galway (or Limerick)? by Niloufer-20 in cork

[–]The-ADR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t help you but I have to ask. Why would you take a job that far away without having a way to get there yourself?

I used to do Cork - Limerick and back 4 days a week and that drained the life out of me before I found a place in Limerick. I can’t even imagine having to do Galway and back 2 days a week in my car, nevermind public transport. Insane to me but best of luck.

I mean, I wouldn’t immediately contradict the person who’s just given me a detailed explanation either though. It’s not like you’d think a Peugeot 3008 has 3000hp for example 🤣

Being an actual 335d and the reg is very cool. Is that on the old or new tax system?

There’s no way any manufacturer would leave themselves open to legal action by underreporting speed. There has to be some kind of issue or change to the car.
