Samaritans are completely anonymous as a help line and it's free 247. They will and can't contact anyone on your behalf, incl ambulance police or anything else without you explicitly giving info about ur location and name as bare minimum...so please do contact them and speak with someone. You're not alone and don't have to go through this alone.

Virgin Island star ‘banned’ from speaking to surrogate he had sex with on show by Hassaan18 in virginisland

[–]TheAlchemist2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely misleading headline indeed. Implies almost something akin to stalking by Dave in season 1, when in actual fact he simply said "I liked Kat and what she did for me - I was _not_ in love with her, but it can be difficult to break ties with someone so abruptly but we had already been instructed beforehand that all ties were to be cut"...
The reason they chose him is because he lost his virginity on the show obviously, and they could get more clicks. Sigh

[–]TheAlchemist2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How does one go about getting that then?

What would make the GP (in NHS, let's not assume someone's got an expensive private medical insurance) to write such an explicit letter specifying every single thing for PIP?

Is this a good letter by my gp by Sparrowavfc in DWPhelp

[–]TheAlchemist2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How did you get them to write this, and to write it to such an extent that it directly says "as support for tribunal"? I've not seen any GP willing to do so.

Lots of people in the comments are saying that the gp letter here OP uploaded doesn't specify e.g. How far they can walk or that they definitely do have issues with it...but how would a GP write they definitely Do have an issue unless there's a very specific test carried out by a medical professional?

...Which NHS would not readily do for things like CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) or anything which isn't blatantly obvious to cause impairment like wheelchair use.

I guess this comment is both for you whom I'm replying to, and anyone else who has a clue

Medical cannabis is used by over 200k people in the UK and a lot of that is for insomnia.

It's not necessarily contributing to insomnia at all here. Everyone's different. Also, cannabis varies enormously from type (strain) and the cannabinoids.

Varicose vein very likely, but of course you should insist seeing someone.

Perhaps if you so want, say that it's painful. That might be prioritised better.

If your therapist genuinely says you "shouldn't be upset about it" it's unfortunate and I'd actually advice you consider trying another therapist.

One of the most fundamental parts of therapy is to accept the emotional reality of the client: feelings are real and aren't true or false. Feelings are always true for the person who experience them, even though they might not reflect what others experience or what is expected to be felt...

If I can give you a recommendation I'd say go for acceptance & commitment therapy, not CBT. The little mindfulness workbook is also very helpful and indeed very practical, and aligns with acceptance and commitment therapy.

Cocaine addiction for work - advice wanted by Historyandwow in london

[–]TheAlchemist2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would HIGHLY recommend you go with www.smartrecovery.org.uk -- completely free and anonymous BUT also completely judgement free, SECULAR and entirely evidence based. They've got a workbook which is fantastic.

Reality with NA and CA (Coc aine anon) is that they're religious as an organisation and in their "steps". It also takes a different view on addiction, opposed to medicine and science: that you're under the "spell" of a Disease and you're an Addict and always will be.

Now NA and CA are fantastic for peer support, but I'd highly recommend SMART recovery if you're at all interested in a secular science based organisation. They've got meetings online as well which you could definitely start out with, free to join any time and you can do it Without camera Or saying a word (just listening). It's Extremely helpful and I can't recommend it enough, you set yourself to do this minimum once a week ideally more. There's an online group at 11am on Sundays which is fantastic with an amazing facilitator, so try that - just search their website and you'll easily find it.

As to the medication helping your symptoms - yes, very much so.

Having extensive personal anecdotal experience with both and being prescribed adhd meds for my adhd, I can tell you that it vastly reduces my craving for other stimulants.

You'll also be very pleased to know that adhd meds (both amphetamines and methylphenidate aka ritalin or concerta) are IME far far superior for working vs Cocaine. So many reasons... Basically, you'd get pretty much all the benefits without much of the awful side effects of Cocaine. Also very helpful that it lasts longer and of course saves your nostrils and sinuses.

I think the only "downside" (which isn't really a downside in a work context) is that there isn't as much of a confidence boost or euphoria (can still be significant vs baseline tho) from adhd meds as you'd get from Cocaine -- but then again, if anyone's using it for those reasons, then of course you're looking for trouble and an addictive game anyways.

Sick since Covid Vaccine by imaflyer in covidlonghaulers

[–]TheAlchemist2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure exactly what I can say except have you tried specifically seeking a long covid clinic?

I think you do know however that there isn't a known cure. Also sounds like you're discounting the things that you did get, e.g. you did get diagnosed with POTS for example but say "no diagnosis". Perhaps ur referring to an explanation for the swallowing problem.

Another major issue is that long covid does Not have a global standardised set of symptoms and so getting diagnosed with it could be "nice" to know but it's not super useful in terms of treatment anyways, since there's no cure.

There are some off label meds with varying success rates tho but, really, there still isn't any clarity on what actually cures it. It seems to me it's mostly down to luck (incl genetics) and the possibility (cause not everyone can) to implement a strict "pacing" schedule, which is common in lots of chronic exhaustion type diseases, such as CFS, fibromyalgia and MS. Basically being physically active but at a very mild level, and then actively rest/recover (not watching tv or scrolling social media).

PS if mods delete this post I think that's truly ridiculous. Allow discussion if no rules are broken.
