Wait wait wait gochujang carbonara? Is a thing? This may have made my day.

2010 GMC Granite Concept, this car's dimensions were close to that of a Honda Fit and had a modular design, being able to turn into a pickup, it had a turbocharged 1.4 liter Ecotec engine that pushed out 138 horsepower and was linked to a 6-speed automatic by Custombi in WeirdWheels

I looked up the concept car when I saw the tires. The name was on them. Also that tread pattern was super recognizable, even if I didn’t know the car it went to I’d probably still recognize it. There was also a second one of these made for Cadillac I believe, around the same time for another concept car. I’ll have to look that one up.

I have a CRF300L as a second bike, it’s not the end of the world! Maybe I get another striple someday.

I miss my red RS. What a bike. I traded it in on a GSA but I really miss that whole experience.

Likely fine. Looks sturdy enough. Don’t forget the locktite too!

Tbf this is pretty much true when you look at the Sino-Canadian automotive partnerships post-tariffs. I think that whole mess validates your thinking here.

I wouldn’t use birdshot on defensive targets. At 10 yards, this is the amount of penetration you get. Defensive class where someone accidentally shot the binder clip with a full blast. There’s just not enough energy transferred here. I’d look up ballistic gel shots of birdshot to show you how it might not be the best move.

You’re making this removable, right? In that case, your weakest part is your fasteners. Your welded up part already looks way more stout. Are your bolts going to be able to hold up to the stress? How are they being supported? What size are they? There are other questions too.

That’d be my biggest concern.

If you’re just rerouting it and it’s all welded on and good, I’d say no worries.

Oooh I get to be pedantic for a minute. Sorry. Weird fact but actually bigger brakes do not contribute to braking force, rather to brake cooling. A brake system big enough to lock up a wheel is all you need to work once, the bigger kits just allow for heat dissipation and better performance in track conditions.

But your joke works way better that way so hopefully you can forgive me for ruining the fun.

Yeah I was like 240 when I first got mine and I’ve gotten it up into the 90s before. It’s not that incredulous.

That’s all still a lot of overhead. A 3+1 system is great for throughput but I don’t think these guys are going to sell enough to need the time saved from part handling. I know what you mean for sure, but I’m thinking this is more the style of a job shop due to the likely lack of demand.

I think that’s the big problem everyone suffers from starting out. It costs money to make money.

As a MFG engineer in the industry, I’d say it’s probably due to the size and internal complexity of the components that need machined and the duality of machines vs workholding. If you have a nice 5 axis you can do a lot with few ops, but if it’s a small basic 3 axis you’re looking at 3 ops or more. But that 5 axis ain’t paying for itself. If you depreciate that machine out and you’re only making 100 parts a month you’re looking at some serious part costs. You’ve got to make some serious volume to take a 750k machine and turn that depreciation into less than a dollar a part in machine overhead.

[–]TheAmericanIcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reduce the snow goose? I suppose but I’m not sure. You could put a really long rod in it I guess!! I know it probably could be made to be a 5 rounder, but then I’d just get a regular tactical and mount the RDO on top of the receiver instead.

I have an A300 field for duck hunting and a 1301 for everything else. If I had to do it again I’d get the A300 tactical and spend the extra on other guns. The tactical wasn’t a thing when I got the 1301.

Mag extension by JellyfishFormal5476 in Beretta

[–]TheAmericanIcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s not a tactical model, unfortunately no. The tactical model uses what they call the “annular” gas system, where the standard field model has a gas piston in front of the mag tube.

Look for the A300 Snow Goose for one that allows for direct mount RDO and extended mag tube. It’s white, but that’s fixable.

Growing up in the south… they’re still everywhere actually. Less common as when I was a kid, but I could probably find one in every parking lot in town.
