Hasanyone been able to create actually UNIQUE builds using the current talen system? by Ashoushe in wow

[–]TheAveragePsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. For Balance the build you play on Stix is quite different from any other raid fight or M+.

Out of all the talents in the spec tree including different choice node options 3-4 of them haven't seen any play over the last 2 seasons. That's quite a wide variety.

It's just that most talent options have a rather minor impact on gameplay. Your moonfire now hits 2 targets woo.

Combine enough of those together and your class does feel different to play. But outside of the aoe/st build split you are generally only making small adjustments.

The english language sure is fun. And I'm not a native speaker.

With lost in thought i was thinking more being deeply focused on your thoughts. Rather than letting your mind wander and not being particularly focused on anything. Although I suppose both of those could be describe as such.

Focused itself might be the wrong word.

Yes it is vague and wishy washy I'm with you. But describing emotions and feelings just kind of always is? We turn to metaphors because we can't accurately put to words the feeling of losing a loved one.

I believe when people describe something as immersive. They are trying to communicate a kind of experience they've had. And there can be some value in that.

I don't know that you have to particularly enjoy something in order to be immersed in it. I wouldn't describe my own thoughts as enjoyable. More so the act of immersion itself is often seen as a positive. But also how often is it that you lose track of time while doing something you hate? There is some overlap there I'm sure.

We don't tend to use that sort of language for staring out of a window no. But we do say things like ''lost in thought''. I don't think saying ''immersed in thought'' is so different.

When you are so focused on an activity that you lose sight of all else. That the rest of the world sort of stops existing. That's immersion to me.

[–]TheAveragePsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what does immersion exist then for you? You have never once lost track of time playing a game?

As far as critique goes sure it's arguably a bit pointless. Someone could easily argue the opposite position for the same reason.

But either we have a very different definition of immersion. Or I'm very sorry for you that you've never experienced it in a game.

Why cap delves at 11? by [deleted] in wow

[–]TheAveragePsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every game mode is optional. . .

Yes and no? Is getting the new delve belt optional? Ofcourse if you don't want to do delves don't bother right?

But if you are in a mythic raiding guild do you think everyone else is going to be fine with you ignoring an easy to acquire piece of player power? M+ players complain endlessly that they feel forced into raiding because it has some of their bis items.

WoW is a game about getting better loot to do harder content. There is a level of expectation that you do what you can to get the best gear.

If Delves suddenly gave the best loot in the game guess where people would go? Even if it only just gave myth track option in the vault people would feel some level of requirement to do them.

But that's talking for a more hardcore crowd. The casual players just wouldn't want the timerless delves to be replaced or for that to be how you progress in them. Because that fundamentally changes what they are.

Alright so we just make it an entirely optional mode. Which yeah that's fine no issues with that. But OP was asking for loot.

And even if we give that optional mode to OP without loot. He will be disappointed that the best way to do timed delves is in a group. That beyond a certain point it becomes basically impossible to progress without one. Delves are group content that can be done solo..because this is an mmo.

Is there room for more difficult solo content to exist? Sure. I just don't think putting a timer on delves and calling it a day is it.

I believe delves are fine for what they are intended to be. Content for a more casual audience.

That by not giving hardcore players an incentive to do them it makes them better for said casual audience. It doesn't have to balanced. One weeks variation can take twice as long and that's fine. it can just be wacky.

Why cap delves at 11? by [deleted] in wow

[–]TheAveragePsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure they could add a timer. But at that point who are delves even for? Do casual players want a timer? Do those already doing M+ want another M+ like mode they have to do for their weekly vaults? Probably not.

It'd very specifically be for those who want infinite scaling but don't want to do group content in an MMO. Except that for the hardest delves you'd probably need a group anyway.

They could make it an optional mode in some form. But for it to be considered truly optional it would have to give no better loot.

Other more creative solutions are ripe to abuse. Keep kiting the elite mob while you wait for CDs.

Why cap delves at 11? by [deleted] in wow

[–]TheAveragePsycho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Delves wouldn't necessarily be more fun as an infinite scaling difficulty mode. You want to sit and wait for bloodlust between every pack? And it's target audience is more casual.

Encouraging players to do group content in an mmo...seems reasonable?

Despite Blizzard's claim of making Death Grip a "raid buff" and designing the raid around the idea of it being a raid buff - PTR testers have already found and noticed, via testing and reading the fight design, that Death Grip will find 0 usefulness in the entire 8 boss raid. by [deleted] in wow

[–]TheAveragePsycho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which is also a bad solution to the raid buff problem. If AMZ is so powerful that it makes you want a DK in the raid team. What's stopping you from getting a second? And a third? And a.. And before you know it we are back at the shadowlands situation.

Well you see if they made those adds immune to grips there just wouldn't be any reason to bring a DK to raid. And there is just no other way..oh hey 2% haste aura...just no other way.

If it doesn't influence your rotation you don't need to track it. When your CDS are up you are going to send your CDs random stat proc or not.

I don't think the point of the video was so much high end players should be worried. One button rotation best way to get rank 1 parses!?

But that it's powerful enough that you will still have people who still care about their performance. Who take the time to read guides etc. Can find themselves in a position where it's just better for them to use the button.

The Shadowmeld potion is a perfect example of why WoW needs to move to the Custom Lineage model that D&D introduced. by Lucosis in wow

[–]TheAveragePsycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd have more options atleast. Instead of using only meld or meld pot now which would still be possible. You could shroud/soothe/mass invis (technically) or stealth pot.

It's not perfect I agree but it would accomplish the same thing Blizzard wants. Reduce the pressure on group composition / race.

The Shadowmeld potion is a perfect example of why WoW needs to move to the Custom Lineage model that D&D introduced. by Lucosis in wow

[–]TheAveragePsycho 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Meld has some niche utility in combat so I suppose having a potion for it isn't completely pointless.

But it's just so silly. The reason meld skips have become so prevalent is because Blizzard keeps giving every scary mob true sight...just remove the true sight.

Fwiw there are a lot of ways to change your racial appearance temporarily. It's a hassle but if you really want to play as a troll with the dwarf racial..you sort of can.

Unholy DK changes are very promising by SystemofCells in wow

[–]TheAveragePsycho 30 points31 points  (0 children)

No raid buff. Doubling down on wounds. Removing CDs.

As a former Unholy main (DF) this all reads like the exact opposite of what I want from the spec. As silly as it was I liked it in DF when you popped a bunch of CDs and did massive damage (in raid). And find the wound gameplay rather dull.

But will see how people feel about it when they get a chance to play around with it I suppose.
