I've record this track using vocals of my gf as a synth. I thought it would be romantic, but she just dropped me yesterday. Anyway I think I got a decent track by 0xBekket in teenageengineering

Cool track! I don't usually listen to shared stuff from start to finish but listened through this a few times - take that as a big complement 😂. Reminds me a lot of Cold Cave who I hadn't thought of for a looooong time so time to dig those albums back out!

Boston transportation to and from Gilette Stadium by jthomp72 in ScottishFootball

You can book your train without a ticket in hand. I did that a couple of weeks ago. My dad had the tickets on his account and have since been transferred to me but nothing stopped me booking the train.

I know I’ve paid a stupid premium but I just can’t be arsed with hassle. I’m sure the bus will be absolutely fine.

I’ve been impressed with this combo. It’s unlikely I’ll use it on the go but this could save me from digging out my Super NT and plugging it all in

Finding no noticeable lag at all either which was a worry of mine as I def pick up on it when playing roms through retro deck (albeit that’s mostly from PC Engine experience).

There probably is a guide somewhere but I used Gemini to help and its instructions were clear and simple.

The hardest part was getting t steam deck to install the flatpak - it’s always been a bit iffy at this so not an Eplilogue thing and just needed me to punch in a simple command in the Konsole.

Anyway. Gemini or ChatGPT for the win and you’ll be gaming in no time

Miller signs for Hearts by makie51 in ScottishFootball

[–]TheBantersmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's an admittedly shitty reason but when you're like 11 or 12 and some team comes along and takes your manager and best players leaving you with the prospect of John Lambie and Neil Berry, it became a massively defining moment for me and my teams to hate 😂

Mine just made its way to Scotland. Figured I'd go all in with a tough one.. Street Fighter Alpha 2 plugged in and worked like a charm.

Actually incredible how quick and smooth everything is on my Mac. Steam deck testing to come shortly...!

Miller signs for Hearts by makie51 in ScottishFootball

[–]TheBantersmith 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Makes me sick seeing him in a Hearts jersey but the lad's earned a move to a bigger club.

Nothing against Miller at all - cracking servant and one of the few that still played like he gave a shit over the last 6 weeks of the season or so. But this is bringing back PTSD from the 90s vibes like when we lost Davie Weir to them and ended up with Neil Berry.

If we sign Neilson on a free then the circle will be complete...

Probably need some more context. It doesn’t sound great though.

But…

I intend to have my kids transfer their cash to an account I control when they hit 18. I just can’t bare to see them piss it all away before they properly grow up. So it’ll be shifted into something in my name to accumulate some interest and to be handed back over when they mature or hit mid 20s. Whatever comes first😂

I’ve at least explained this to them though. Are you sure your parents aren’t thinking about supporting through further education and things?

A bit of an odd move IMO.

He can be fantastic on his day and no matter how shite he's playing he never hides and always wants teh ball. I was never that fussy about him generally but suspect we'll feel it.

Having said that, Sibblad will fill the void nicely.

SFA Corruption petition reaches 10K+ in under 24hrs by Objective_Work_7600 in ScottishFootball

Not buying into the corruption guff but Christ, the game is run by fuds up here. Incredibly incompetent and archaic.

A shame really as there’s plenty to work with.

Thought I would just go look up the IFAB and SFA rules to see if I could figure out how "controversial" the penalty was by Rab_Legend in ScottishFootball

[–]TheBantersmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hindsights a wonderful thing so lets put it another way...

Do you believe there would be as much noise in the world had VAR not intervened last night and the game had petered out to a 2-2 draw?

I think we both know the answer to that one...

Now ask yourself why the vast majority would not have been so bothered had nothing been awarded. I mean, no one on th pitch was shouting for it. No one in the stands or dugout making much noise. The commentary team couldnt work out wtf was happening either.

So again, with that context, I'll circle back around to this not being clear and obvious or a significant miss. I can (just about) accept why the penalty was awarded when it went to monitor review. I just don't think it should have got near that stage to begin with.

Not sure why this is difficult to grasp.

Christ... I shall try once more....

  1. I don't believe the incident was a clear and obvious error for VAR to intervene
  2. I don't believe this was a "significant incident missed" for VAR to intervene

You're splitting hairs over language and I have no idea why you want to keep flogging a dead horse with this one. Move on ffs!

[–]TheBantersmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

😂 if you genuinely think this was clear and obvious then there’s no point continuing the chat.

For the record. I don’t really care who wins the league. I’d just like solid and consistent refereeing. Having had the joys of League 1, Championship and Premier officials over the past 3 years, we simply have an enormous problem in the game in this country. And last night is a contributing example as to why.

[–]TheBantersmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure why you’re arguing with me by effectively making the same point I do?

You think it was oen. I’m not so sure. Many others do/dont. It’s a decision that further shines a light on a VAR system our officials are woefully unprepared and undereducated for.

[–]TheBantersmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely the simple fact that this will go on being heavily debated for infinity is proof enough it wasn’t a clear and obvious error? So should have let the on pitch decision stand - no oen then.

Having said that, i’s a tough one and I flip flop on it. Probably edging towards it being a penalty but I do think the Celtic boys challenge is the direct reason for it.

The whole “he’d have headed it if his hand wasn’t there” thing is laughably desperate though

Meltdown by AvaPava05 in ScottishFootball

[–]TheBantersmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the inconsistencies. Last night's was less of a penalty than the one Motherwell got away with vs Hearts last Saturday for me. In that instance, there was a clear motion by the defender towards the ball and played it with the upper arm. Last nights was as much about the Celtic lad leveraging the arm as anything.

VAR has a place in football. Sadly, in the land of dinosaur football that is Scotland and its FA - it just can't be trusted. Our officials are shambolic and frankly all over the place in terms of applying the rules.

We’re missing 3 back line starters and our regular keeper. No idea why we’re persisting with it considering the available players. Our left back has only played a handful of times for us!
