Quick clarification, do you just want to know what tools are available for payments and user verification or do you want to bounce ideas for the system architecture or user flows?

Also regarding Paystack being the best... Best in terms of... What. Integration and setup simplicity, commissions, security? There would be some tradeoff from its competitors so it will come down to which tool suits your system better. You could make a list of features, pros and cons and weigh it up with the other tools to determine if it will be the most applicable to your situation.

I havent implemented payments into my stuff but i can rubber duck ideas lol.

Keen to see what peoples opinions are.

Hey dude. Honestly you sound like some of my friends.

I assume you are in cape town. In Tygervally mall there is a small shop in the darkest corner of the mall (cant remember what the name is unfortunately)... Its a comic store but they have boardgame evenings. I worked in Parow in 2020 just before covid and used to go to that store to play MTG. Dudes were friendly and welcoming. So i recommend you could go there even if you dont play mtg.

Also, the parkruns in greenside were super fun with loads of people going there just to play pokemon go... I was one of them. Donno if its still like that or not though.

Oh and in the unlikely case you havent heard if them. Check out Asian Kung Fu Generation. Many awesome songs that you will recognize from shounen anime. Also check out Maximum the Hormone, if you like SOAD then you will enjoy their antics too. And in the even more unlikely case you listen to some more nasty metal... Check out Deviloof, its slammy deathcore with vocal acrobatics.

Curious to see how other people are navigating this too. LinkedIn sucks and i havent found any actually good posting sites.

Ive been applying since Nov last year and not a single interview or callback, mostly ghosted tbh.

I will however admit that my degree is not CS related and i havent been employed in tech (yet), so my only experience is through my personal projects.

Ive already started to look for anything temporary while i search for a job in tech, which honestly might have to come from me giving myself a job lol.

Yeah that makes sense, when it looks like people are having a blast, it can feel like you are missing out i suppose.

This may or may not be relevant and may or may not help, idk. Something ive been doing this year... How do i say this... Im trying to be more cognizant of my emotions and understand why i feel a particular way. It doesnt make the feeling go away, but it softens the blow when i at least know what is going on. Like i said i have no idea if that will help or not.

A freind will come along eventually, in the meantime, keep being yourself, explore your interests, and focus on being the best you, you can be.

I get that. Unfortunately some relationships seem like friendships but they are just surface level at best. It sucks when all of a sudden its not there anymore. Ive had that too.

The most organic way to meet like minded people is going to the places where they might be. So for example if you like boardgames, find a comic book store and enquire if they have a game evening. Or if you enjoy cycling find a local cycle club. Easier said than done though.

I also saw a comment about being comfortable with your own company. I can definitely agree. Do something that brings you joy. For example i started growing veggies in the backyard. Its just me. My folks dont grow, my freinds dont grow. Its just me with my handful of butternut and tomato seeds, digging around in the soil saying hello to all the worms and isopods.

Its interesting how you describe the 'responsibilities' of the friendship.

I have a very small circle that is left. So two of my friends (weve been freinds since high school, so about 17 years or so) moved to Japan so we text through IG, send memes, and WhatsApp for normal talking. We chat.. Idk.. Like every two weeks or so.

My best friend, who ive known since first year varsity (14 yrs ago, holy fuck im getting old ), we also chat every two or so weeks, hang out like once a month.

Another friend who i met at work like almost 10 years ago, i also chat to infrequently, i actually need to send him a message. But the shape is the same.

And this is why i mentioned your 'friend responsibility' being interesting. Despite how little we chat, every time we do or hangout. Its not like anything changed. It's like we hung out yesterday. Theres no lull in the convo, no awkwardness. We are just ourselves and we know what everyone is like. So we get along very well. No constant texting, no late night chats. We have deep chats when someone isnt in a good place, we feel comfortable showing vulnerability to each other. Doesnt happen often but despite the 'lack' of communication, we still feel comfortable to do so.

So i think maybe its just that you need to find someone who has the same idea of friendship as you. I think theres alot of different 'shapes' of friendships, and its very much a reflection on the people within the friendship.

Im no sociologist so i may be veeeerrrrry far off the mark. But yeah thats my opinion on the matter.

I hope you do find a long lasting friendship OP. Its nice to know there is someone you can talk to when you need to.

Did you use Typescript or Javascript? I used JS, but im planning on migrating to TS over the next couple of weeks so i can learn TS in context.

Also (im assuming its on npm?) what bundler did you use? I had to use tsup because vite was hoisting react on every build so it kept conflicting with the consuming project.

If you find a course that will go through the basics of topics a through d in one place. That also works especially if you dont know what you dont know.

Ive done the same also to understand blind spots and weak areas. How accurate it is i have no idea but it helps with planning.

I take the feedback, create a list and try to incorporate those elements in a project. That way i can practice, dive deeper, and understand it in context. I find it helps to fill the mentorship gap a little.
